100 conjuration early game?

Post » Thu Jan 30, 2014 12:00 pm

So I recently fired up another mage and I'm a conjurer-ish illusion/destruction mage. I always start tougher fights with conjuring up my two dremora lords and sometimes I just throw a frenzy spell and let my enemies take care of each other.

Anyway, I trained my conjuration up to 100 fairly early and got all perks except for the bound weapons ones. My destruction is only 27 something but I figured it doesn't matter much since conjuration is my main offense anyway.

Was this a good move or a bit foolish? I realize I got to a high enough level for all enemies to up a few notches (i.e common draugr would now be more wights).

I usually use the caged wolves at Faldar's Tooth or that captured wolf near Fort Greenwall.

I'd rather spam bound sword, it's less costly.

24 now, but that's with 100 conjuration, 65 alteration, 52 illusion and 29 destruction. Of course there's the stray skills from reading skill books.

Bound sword is a lot more tedious and not so effective on the magicka recharge. I just soul trap spam (two hands, not dual-cast) on a dead body and then wait one hour and go again. I've also disabled save-on-wait so it's even more comfortable.
Of course I could just raise all skills with the console, lol, but I have time to do this and this feels more rewarding in the end.

IMO You have made a mistake and will create another character shortly.

I have had fun with characters that have achieved Mastery of Conjuration very early in the Game, but it can be limiting and the Twins will become boring.

I don't always summon the Twins, mind you. Sometimes I let my foes take care of themselves by tapping into their minds and corrupt them (fear/frenzy).

Conjuration is the easiest to level up quickly. Just dance around a mudcrab, equip your bound weapon and unequip them. Do this repeatately and your Conjuration will level up very quickly. Destruction and Restoration is another story. :wallbash:

Well I know when I played Oblivion and got up to summoning the Daedroth (crocodile looking demon) that the game got really boring at that point. I would credit this in part to me not finishing much of the main story line after 200 hours, but most of that was really my love of the side quests and gathering ingredients. For me if I know I can't die short of the enemy landing a miracle then the game is boring for me. I'm currently level 17 and using Flame Atronach and Lydia along with one hand and heavy armor. I am planning to raise the difficulty and see what happens. I did almost die on a dragon recently but other than that I have not been given much challenge lately. I am also debating going out of my house with just clothes on every new quest so I must gather and use items. I don't know how long you have been able to summon the two creatures but I would ask yourself this "have I died any since?". If the answer is no and you have played a few quests, time to look at doing something different. Thats just me. I have played d&d with people who don't ever want to die in the games but I don't enjoy that as theres no thrill or sense of urgency.

You're wrong, actually. Soul trapping a dead body is the absolute easiest way to raise conjuration. :)

But then again, potato potato I guess.

Twin Dremora Lords are never boring... Also, I don't see how it is a mistake. Normally when I play a character who will be using conjuration as a major skill, I master it early on... Never had a problem.

Best Conjuration method is soul trap on dead bodies. Destruction is rather fast to get up if you make Destruction spell cost to 0 and spam lightning spells, especially chain lightning. Lightning spells are instant hitters thusly you'll hit the target and get the experience right away rather than a chance of missing and NOT getting the experience.

Restoration is the slowest though... Best method is use a spell to constantly drain your health while refilling your magicka while healing yourself with a restoration spell.

I do the same with some of my mages. (Depends on the character)

Only if you want them to be... Sometimes I do want them to be like that.
