10mm ONLY!

Can be in my opinion, and with good timing. Nothing like racing around a corner and emptying 400+ hit-points in their face, in about two seconds. They look surprised.

That Deliverer gun is so tiny and weak and puny looking. Should be good to rechamber it to .22 and go plink some radroaches with it :P

Seems like .38 rounds are plentiful, so in that respect it's a great choice.

I just used that caliber conversion mod on the Nexus to make myself a .38 backup on the 10mm pistol model. This will do until someone makes a proper small/medium frame .38 snub revolver. I'd like one modeled after the Colt Detective Special.

Try that M9 I mentioned, It's pretty good, though the front sight isn't aligned. It might be a damage mod or something that I'm running that makes it that high. It's probably actually a lot less.

Yeah, revolvers are good, not sure why, but I'm a lot more accurate with a revolver, spent an afternoon shooting pears off a fence post at 50 yards with a friend's 6" barrel 38 revolver, not sure what it was, but it was a nice weapon. For actual combat, I'd prefer a semi for obvious reasons. Or a long gun, but we were speaking of pistols.

Purely about the game, if it is modeled after the current revolvers, it would be bad, a slow firing, slow reloading revolver that does 30 damage?

Honestly, when I first heard about pipe guns, I wasn't expecting semi autos. But there's an interesting amount of home made weapons made during the Chechen conflict, one I recall was a smoothbore smg with a single stack mag(I guess staggered double stack magazines are harder to manufacture without the right equipment).

It would have been nice to see pipe guns in a variety of calibers, with better damage, but make them smoothbore bullet hoses, thought about a break action .38 pipe shotgun that used 6 rounds at once.

For the 10mm, I originally carried a G27 in .40, but I didn't like the snappy recoil with that round. I like .45, but since I am shooting high performance defense ammunition only out of it, 9mm, .40, and .45 all have similar effect out of modern hollowpoints(meaning 2 or 3 rounds center mass will end up with pretty much the same results, regardless of caliber), so I prefer less recoil, because if I have to use a pistol, I'm going to be shooting someone multiple times. One thing I've learned is you never expect a handgun to stop someone with one shot.

If I was stuck with only FMJ, I'd definitely use a .45, though.

Well I've never even seen a gun before so technical inaccuracies in how the game portrays the different betweens models, ammo types etc just fly straight over my head. After all this is game where you can have a Freezing Flamethrower!.

10mm pistol + gun fu + gun bash perk = John Wick. I literally sprint into buildings now into the fray and VATS everyone I can and beat up the rest and then excessively shoot the bodies. Best playthrough I've ever had in a fallout because I love John Wick. I need to make an unarmed knife melee guy from The Raid but I can't snap arms and necks so I'll wait for a finishing move mod or something

This is the first Fallout game where I found the 10MM pistol useful. After being fully modded its my character's primary weapon.

I've been wondering about this.

Why is it that some types of ammo that seem like they should be more powerful show a lesser value in the 'Damage' category when modifying the weapon?

For example, my conversion of The Overseer's gun. It does more damage as a .308 than it does a .45. Isn't that opposite of the way it is in real life or am I off on that?

I also have non-legendary 10mm's that I have modified and some will allow me to increase the damage more than others. Is there maybe a certain order in which you have to upgrade them such as grip first, then barrel?

Yep you're wrong on that. In real life the .45 (or .45 ACP) is a big slow moving pistol round. It's typically a 230 grain bullet that is .451 in diameter moving at 800-850 FPS from a 5 inch long barrel. The case is SHORT and fat and can't hold all that much powder. The .308 (7.62 NATO) is a powerful rifle round typically that's often a 125 grain bullet leaving a rifle length barrel at 3,100 FPS.....they also have heavier weights at slower speed (150 at 2,700 FPS).

Too bad the high critical police pistol from the Sierra Madre is suddenly unavailable in the east...then we could have had .357 ammo AND use up some of our .38.

10mm pistol does look the best out of all pistol, I threw away my old 10mm pistol cuz I was thinking Kellog's pistol looks better. When I realize it doesn't I just went and bought the Wastelander's friend, the 10mm pistol with crippng (i think it was) legendary perks, downgrade it's scope and that long as magazine clip. no regrets.
