11/11/13 will be the two year anniversary for Skyrim and oddly the next patch number after 1.9 will be 2.0. Coincidence? :)

I think Bethesda will surprise us!

After two years, I still devote 20+ hours to it!

The next patch would be called 1.10.

2.0 means something brand new. And I doubt there will be a patch anyways.

I dont believe that at all. Anyway, 11-11-13 my xbox will be up on ebay, craigslist or donated to someone because I will be making room for my Xbox One which (supposedly) will be released on 11-29-13.

Sorry, in America, Bethesda uses the decimal system to number it's patches. Patch 1.10 was the first patch, which was 1.1. Which is the same as 1.10 or 1.1000000 infinium. You would be correct if their last patch was numbered 1.09. Then 1.10 would follow. Unfortunately that's not the case. :)

Patches don't work that way. The next would be 1.10.

I do live in America, Texas to be exact.

I know people hate when this series is mentioned, but it reminded me. Black Ops II has had way more than 10 patches and I believe its on its 16 patch.

That's not how version numbers work.

The most recent (and in all likelihood final) version of the Skyrim PC executable is a series of numbers: 1.9.32.0.8 There was another v1.9 before that, a beta version, which was 1.9.29.0.8. Those are not decimal numbers in the least.

sorry, but Shadow is correct.

version numbers don't work the same as decimal numbers

2.0 would be a completely new product, a "version 2" to be exact.

and when it comes to patches to a game, "1.10" or 1.9b", always follows 1.9

Exactly. They are just there to show subsidiaries of the given version. The same as ( - )'s or ( / )'s.

Look at dates. They can be displayed as 11-11-11 or 11/11/11 or 11.11.11. It's the same thing.

Hmmm. I think Bethesda is using the sequence based identifying system and if I remember from my computer science class from 20 years ago a 2.0 doesn't necessarily signify a new version but just a major update? I may be wrong, though. :)

I made the error in simplifying and comparing it to the decimal system.
For argument's sake. Bad example. :)

Of course, I haven't used my computer science degree in years.

Would be nice if they fixed the lip sync glitch and added some cool minor features.

Not that I expect that to happen of course.

I know.

Though a patch would be great, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Yes, now that we have the Patch Numbering Sequence figured out, then we can close this thread. As Bethesda is done patching this game, the discussion on what the patch number would be is moot.
