No 1920 resolution options outside of windowed mode...

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 7:53 pm

Why do I not have any 1920 x 1200 resolution modes unless I select "windowed". When I do it in windowed it throws 2 inches of the screen off to the right.

My monitor runs normally at 1920 x 1200 and looks perfect - 24 inch widescreen.

Any help with this???

In the load up screen under options have you got 16:10 selected in the ratio drop down? If it defaults to 16:9 ratio it will only show you up to 1920x1080.

In the options window make sure you have the aspect ratio of 16:9 selected and then 1920x1080 should be in the list of resolutions (at least it is in my launcher) -- also make sure the Show all resolutions checkbox is checked !

odd that.
I'm too tired to ponder why that is.
Just have enough wakefulnes to say 1920x1200 is working here and I didn't have that issue. However I did pick the rez at the initial setup outside of the game. Maybe it is related to that.
There may be a ini setting you can tweak to bypass whatever weird glitch your having.

you should post system specifics when mentioning issues like this, by the way. Might help track it down.

The ini is named SkyrimPrefs.ini and is installed to your My Documents\My games\Skyrim\ folder -- just open it with Notepad - find the following lines in the [Display] section : and change the values as listed (this is for fullscreen 1920x1080 resolution. Save the file and launch the game and it should be in 1920x1080 fullscreen

bFull Screen=1
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920

I made those changes, saved it, and still no 1920 options outside of "windowed" mode

In fact, changing skyrim prefs doesn't seem to change anything

I have exact same problem. Mine even just keeps going back to what looks like a 4:3 800x600 window. It's basically a tiny window. I've changed the .ini manually, etc. but no joy.

It's honestly absurd because my system is top notch.

Are you changing the correct SkyrimPrefs.ini file ?? There are 2 of them one in the game install folder which is used for creating the actual one the game uses that is located in your My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\ folder ! (you want to be editing the one in my documents )
