1st or 3rd person p.o.v.?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 7:12 am

The way it looks when you move in 3rd person just really ruined it for me. I pay in 1st all the time, except when I want a better view of the battlefield.

1st. I only go to third to see my shiny armour. Even if 3rd person was made much better I would still play 1st person.

1st person, ofc. Can't imagine playing any ES game in 3rd.

I think every game should be in 1st person, it is soooo much better.

Always 1st. I also turn the crosshairs off because I can't stand having that right in the middle of my vision.
Switching to 3rd only to check out my new look.

You mean all the time? When I'm travelling or casting spells I'm in 3rd person, combat I'm in 1st. I just cant play in first all the time. I just don't like putting time and effort into my characters face and then not seeing it most of the time.

I play in 1st. I only use 3rd to view my character, or sometimes if I need to get a better view of something that is perhaps in an odd place.

I play both because 3rd person is useful if you want to watch your back.

I play in first person primarily and occasionally pop into third person when I'm walking around. I don't particularly like either views in Elder Scrolls. Not being able to see my lower body really bothers me in first person and the horrid animations makes it so I can't handle third person.

Third most of the time. Like wondering the world and such as well as most fights. Still switched to first sometimes when I had trouble picking something up lol.

Most of the time, I am in third person, but I am in first person enough to say "A mix of both."

I play in first person. But I do occasionally like to admire my character and the surroundings around me while I'm traveling in third person.

I bounce back and forth between third and first all the time, both in Morrowind and Oblivion. I love watching my characters fight, and run around through the environment, but I also like to view everything from first person too. I wouldn't want to see one left out in favor of the other.

3rd person is not suitable for TES because Bethesda has been unable to make it remotely functional. In Oblivion the 3rd person crosshair was invisible and centred on your head making it impossible to use except in melee combat.
However it's easy solvable by lifting the 3rd person crosshair around a foot up, other had solved it before Morrowind.
However 3rd person is best for melee combat, first work best for ranged.

I would definately try out the 3rd person perspective. If its a right pleasure to play in that view, then I'll stick with it.

I can't play in 3rd person. I bump into furniture, I fall off cliffs and I lose fights if I try to play in 1st person. I am totally uncoordinated. I don't buy 1st person games for that reason.

Also I roleplay a little differently than most people, from what I gather. Most people seem to play "as themselves," which I don't consider to be roleplaying. I play as characters that are very different from myself and it helps to see them in front of me. My character and I are a party of two. I tend to see myself as a guide, a invisible presence accompanying my characters on their adventures. 1st person would not be appropriate for my style of roleplaying.

The only time I ever switch to 3rd person is to satisfy any narcissistic tendencies I may have. Other than that, first person all the way.

I think it'd be pretty awesome if Beth made a smooth/natural zoom out when you do your finishing move if you're playing 1st.

If it were optional, then alright. Otherwise, no no no no no NO. That would be even worse than the zoom out when you sat down in Oblivion. The game should never force me out of first person mode.

I picked first-person view. Considering how rare it is to actually find a first-person viewpoint in a video game genre I actually like, I'll take it whenever I can simply because I prefer it and am starving for it.

I play TES games in 1st person view. I switch to 3rd if I want to see how I look, but for doing most things, it's 1st person all the way. :)

Mostly first person, but that's because aiming in third person in very akward. When I first started Morrowind I played third person, but it became annoying after a while and never tried in oblivion. That said I use third person a lot to look at my character, because I love to customize my gear... that said, it's a given I did this more in MOrrowind than in Oblivion, since oblivion didn't have many options in this aspect

I usually play in first person but that's because 3rd person view was so broken. I like using third person to view more of what's around me. When I'm running around the game world not doing anything important then I use third person, once I go into combat I use first person.

I only use 3rd person view when i'm looking over my equipment, taking a screenshot, or just watching myself on a long journey. I hate what they did to third person view though, i despise over the shoulder view because i can never make my person walk in a strait line, line up against the enemy correctly, or know whats going on to my left. Thats going to be the first thing i mod out..such a disappointment, and one i don't even understand.
