1st person body?

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 11:12 am

IIRC all it takes is renaming the body & legs to Arms in the model. Its been a while, but (again IIRC), the engine makes everything not part of the arms invisible (most likely as a frame-rate savings). FO3 does the same thing with severed limbs... It copies the whole limb and just makes ? transparent. There really is nothing to this ~it can be done accidentally when making an armor or clothing mod.

I did it deliberately in this video ~so that the PC's FPP view stares through the bars (that are a part of the models chest).

I think they have to. It doesn't require alot of coding.

I did not forget. theres just nothing thats going to resolve that, console players get left out but that doesn't mean I am going to say that they should implement every thing for the base game because there is just way to much mod content that people want in the base game that its not feasable.

if they do get put in they pick and choose.

I don't believe everything should be implemented, but something like this, that from what I've read, wouldn't be that hard to implement in the first place is being thrown into the "just wait for mods" category by PC users.

Now don't assume I'm a die hard supporter of this one feature, the statement came more from reading a lot of PC users mentioning features deemed useless to the core game being made available later in the form of mods when, if it's simple enough, could be added to the core game.

Get what I'm saying?

It was about Halloween, and the Courier in a costume (of him being carried in a cage). At the time I did not have a saved game in the New Vegas Strip, or he'd have also been seen strutting down the main street.

In each model for clothing or the base figure (also clothing), the http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/50s_Suit.png. In First Person view, only the arms (so labeled) remain visible.

I want first person games in general to have this feature.
The mod makes it appear as though you're hunching over and the body is a little small, but it's still above and beyond what I could come up with.

I get what your saying. and I have been both console and pc tes player. mostly console. and I recognize that you don't want every mod put into the base game. but every one of these mods has a handfull of people who want their thing that they like in. people are going to be disapointed, I am not saying this should not be in. so if they put some in and not others there would be what you'd expect of a negitive reaction.

its not that this one thing is too complicated, it is probably just that as a collective they have alot that they have to do. not too mention that alot of mods are things that you'd want to be optional.

To me, the video just looks like the 3rd person camera is set tight..

One thing I don't understand, why do people who prefer to play on 1st person are so bent into seeing their feet?
The only time I see my feet, is when I am tying my shoes. It's not like it adds "realism"... I mean, how realistic is that a character runs with a sword/gun/whatever right in front?

..anyway.. carry on.

I was thinking about this today while playing Oblivion and I came to the conclusion that I would like to have a 1st person body.

Yes and no for me. It would add immersion to the game and it would be cool to look down at see the armor you're wearing but at the same time who's really going to be walking and looking down at the same time? Let alone just looking down.

It helps decipher what you're specifically stepping on. The link posted above is a perfect example.

Until I joined this board I honestly never thought about this issue at all. It never bothered me in the least. Now that I have read through so many threads about this I can sort of see where some of you are coming from but I honestly never much cared for the first person perspective. What really bugged me was how terrible previous Bethesda games have been when played in third-person. It looked very silly having my character skating up a mountain path. So as long as they get the third-person perspective right (and many of the previews we have read have implied that they have done just that), than I could not care less whether I can see my legs in first person.

But to each their own. I hope we can all find satisfaction with the final product.

To me, this is very important for immersion's sake. I hope this is in-game.
