1st person body?

I didn't vote because there is no option for "I couldn't care less"
But yeah, would be nice but it doesn't bother me one bit if it doesn't make it into the game.

Absolutely. It's one of my BIGGEST pet peeves when developers don't include this feature. The only reason why it was never included in older FPSs was because they didn't have the technology to do so well. Now the technology exists but developers of first person games almost never include it. I hate being a floating camera, and I hate how no one seems to notice it or care.

It would be an awesome thing to add in a game aiming to be as immersive as this.

If it looks right. The body looks way to small in the mod.

I do not care in the slightest. I guess I would marginally prefer it to be in the game but if it took any time away from other features then I would say no. If my sabre-toothed tiger's eyelashes are not animated properly I'm coming back to you "I want to see my body in first person" people. :glare:

I honestly don't understand the enthusiasm some people have for this utterly trivial and quite meaningless "feature". And no, I don't think that I'm "a camera and two forearms" when I'm running around in a first person game that doesn't have visible feet - I think I'm the character I'm playing.

Two comments on that video:

1) honestly, that looks worse than not having it. The view angle on the body is screwed up enough (the head, looking down, wouldn't be that far forward of the chest) that it's less "realistic" than having no body.

2) why the heck do so many people making Youtube videos to show off something in a game, always pick some incredibly dark place to film it? You'd think they'd want people to be able to get a clear view.

I would like to see it a good example is Mirrors Edge, I love how you was able to see your body, I think that game did it right. I would like to see maybe some hair blowing in the wind too so long as it was not over done and completely block your vision.

Yes this would be great. If they can pull off right of course.

They would have to be real careful or it would look fake, I hope they can add this feature only if its done right I feel it would add to the overall immersion.

Yes. It feels so much more realistic with 1st person body.

Look at this concept art of Mirror's Edge:

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/mirrorsedgepainting061109.jpg

Even Mirror's Edge itself didn't end up looking this good (you can see more of the body here than you can in the actual game). But if Skyrim could come anywhere near to this, it would be awesome.

Why did they actually go the extra length and remove this feature from l4d2 when it was in l4d1.

Yeah I think it would be great if they put it in Skyrim, Mirrors Edge is an exellent comparison.

A very important point IMO, and even though it's been said a hundred times it still isn't enough. Mirror's Edge is indeed a good role model.

Of course, Mirror's Edge is one of those rare cases of a game that actually NEEDS this, since the entire game is centered around body movement / acrobatics / parkour. Without the full-body thing, there wouldn't be a game.

Your average non-parkour/non-acrobatic first person game? Doesn't really use it for anything.

Not a bad idea, but it'd make a couple of bugs, most definetely. In the end, I think it'd be cool to have.

YES! I really want a viewable body in Skyrim. If The Chronicles of Ridike could do it on the Xbox and The Darkness could do it on the 360 why can't Skyrim?
