1st person - body viewable

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:22 pm

I really hope they make it so we can see our own feet in this game. After I started playing Oblivion in 1st person, I found the combat allot more fun and precise. The only weird thing is when looking down towards your feet, there is nothing there! You'r just a pair of floating arms. It kinda removes a bit of the immersion I think.

Meh. Maybe after playing Mirror's Edge I got spoiled.

There was a thread on women gamers and one of them said the last thing she wants to see looking down to kill a rat is her own cleavage.

I usually play Oblivion in 3rd person unless I need to aim a bow very carefully or something. (I use the mouse wheel to move the camera in and out.) Somehow, it makes the PC appear to run a lot faster (helpful since I don't use fast travel).

It was a little tricky to get used to 3rd person spellcasting and combat, but now it's not so hard.

Floating head 1st person is unacceptable this day and age.

Haha. Hmmmm, I guess that's another good reason to have the full body viewable :hubbahubba:

This, full body simulation from a first-person viewpoint is pretty much a must. I will be pretty upset if this isn't in, however, provided the animations are good, it's not too difficult to mod in. Take third-person camera, align with players head, add crosshair, win.

I've yet to see a game that makes a 1st person body viewable look realistic.

They also look really strange or awkward.

I agreed... it bother me too... I want realism... I want look down and see the rest of my body.

A good solution for the people that don′t like, it just make it settable. In options menu could have some option to enable to see the body in 1st person view. Simple enough.

I always want that but i could not find even a mod to do that in oblivion... =(

Meh, its never really appealed to me.
In the games ive played that have it i barely even notice it other then the first time i look down and think "oh, i see my legs, wonder if i can shoot my knee, nope, hmm", after that i really dont pay any notice to it whatsoever.

the old game Arks Fatalis do have the entire body viewable in first person, and it′s not that bad:

Games like Halo Reach do it well. Only the thighs down make it into the first person camera.

For Mirror's Edge, they put the camera out further in front of the player's face than where the eyes are. Apparently this looks more natural and looking down you see the character's feet not straight down her cleavage.

I'm still waiting for a game that successfully shows the bridge of your nose in first person.

If you want a viewable body, do you not also need your vision impaired by your helmet to get a more realistic view of the world around you. Might be difficult to see where your bow is aiming in a dwarven helmet.

The mod that does this is reasonably popular. There was even one made for Fallout 3 and for New Vegas.

Why? It would be transparent anyway. I would find it distracting, it's not something you constantly pay attention to in real life.

Sounds ok to me, whats the problem? :hehe:

Honestly it would be a nifty feature, but I wouldnt really miss it if it was left out.

I switch from 1rst to 3rrd all the time without even noticing, with 1rst mostly just being for getting a better veiw of the action, not seeing my feet.

She's not doing it right. She should keep her eyes focused on the monitor at all times. :D Besides, if we get body adjustments during character generation, it should be easy to make whatever attributes you want if that was really an issue.

Seriously though, I hope she's joking. In Arma2 all that differs from 1st and 3rd person is the location of the camera. When using freelook, the head is actually moving, and the world changes since the eyepoint is where the eye should be rather than on a central pivot point. You see your hands, weapons, feel, shadow, your stance, blood textures on your uniform etc. Skyrim appears to have a lot of cliffs, right? Wouldn't it be awesome if we had to balance along a cliff edge, while looking down all you saw was an endless abyss?

either way does not bother me. Most FPS's dont have this implemented. Riddike did and that was great but its definitely no deal breaker

I really want to see my own shadow in 1st person. And maybe some stomp or jump-on-peoples-head type of moves. Kick rats!
All these things need a FPSview! :foodndrink:

Really? The left4dead community already complains they can't see their feet in the second one. Lets not start this here
