I want to see my body, and I want to see animations for everything I do.

There have been times I'v tried walking backwards off a edge in Mirrors Edge and the character will float in mid air.

I find it silly when people say they don't want to see floating arms or anything....

Hold a sword at the ready, do you see your arms in your peripheral vision? You bet. Hell, as I type this I can see my fingers, hands, forearms and full keyboard in my peripheral vision...

But they are not the focus of your vision. Television screens are not the same as eyesight, so it would be impossible to simulate realistic vision short of building a whole room with a massive curved screen in front of you.

The entire screen is not my focus of vision. Infact, your focus of vision is extremely small. Also, I play on PC sitting no more than 2 feet from a 27in monitor. There is no way in hell the entire monitor is my focus, most of it in in my peripheral vision.

I'd like Bioshock, Far Cry 2, and Mirror's Ede to be the basis.

Amnesia FTW

I always have thought you should be more aware you're an actual character, visually as well as aurally. So I obviously support this.

Farcry2 for the immersive animations in 1st person (healing animations i.e.).

Far cry 2's healing svcked.I get shot with a shotgun and then I pull a random spike off my ass and I feel a lot better suddenly.

Just that. Full body awareness. Given how much they focus on including the menus in the game world, further than the PipBoy went, it would kill much of the atmosphere if we were a floating head and arms.

Something basic like Halo or Riddike(sp?) would work. Mirror's Edge is a bit different. The animations look good because they were exaggerated for 1st person. So when someone modded a 3rd person view into the game, the model looked super deformed as it moved about.

I was wondering about Mirror's Edge, because I thought it had a pretty good first person. Then I looked up the third person, and laughed my *** off. There's a point where too realistic trips and falls over into too unrealistic. I mean, if that's how Skyrim worked in first person, that'd be great. But for third person, switch over to something like Assassin's Creed or Fable.

Something that makes me sad when people talk about games that did it right...there is NEVER a mention of "Breakdown" from the original Xbox.
Everything was done from first person. Shooting, driving, punching, blocking bullets, somersaults, eating, vomiting. It was all done in first person, in a very believable way. If anyone has an old Xbox or 360 you should really hunt the game down.

Well, that game was never supposed to be played in third person. Oblivion, too, would look very ridiculous if the first person animations were used in third person. Always walking around with the sword held straight up into the air. And we've already seen that this is not the case in Skyrim. ^_^
But what we have not seen yet are first person feet. Beth, spill the beans!

What do you want your experience to be like in 1st Person?
I avoid first person in RPGs when I can.
I like it in shooters of course, but its just not the point in an RPG. In past TES games I play as far back in third person as is practical, and only resort to first person when the map design makes it all but impossible not to [tight caves and hallways mostly].

My real answer to the question would be, "non-existent", but FPP is a design intent of the series and should always be improved upon rather than removed. I just hope TPP play is still possible at all ~they crippled it bad on purpose in FO:NV, and the fix for that was the first mod I went looking for.

no hud mean an actual body is a MUST

because I don't want to be a floating invisible ball that hits stuff.

My preference is first person. Of course I've played plenty of games in third person but I am most immersed in roleplaying when playing in first person.

I would be surprised if Beth doesn't implement full-body awareness into their first person system. As others have said, it fills some of the holes when trying to "become" your character.

I'd like to see feet. Not shoulders, since your character typically turns his/her entire body rather than just their neck. Hair/face gear would probably get annoying, but I'd accept it as a togglable option.

Zenimax bought Arkane; I'm guessing they studied their games. Arkane's 'Arx Fatalis' had legs and a very believable FPP jump. (No TPP as far as I know :()

TES would greatly improve if they took the best of Arx Fatalis, and worked it into Skyrim. Oddly enough, the two games share the same climate.

Yeah I don't wanna be a floating invisible camera either.
...
Given that 1st person haven't really developed in TES since Daggerfall (I think)... now is definitely the time.

So awesome. Although I think falls are a bit too much on the video. But still, very nice. Adds a lot to the game-experience :)
The video also makes me want climbing very bad :P

Too bad the animations aren't that great.

Mirror's Edge is a great game (especially so in First Person). My one peeve, was that Faith is such a fantastic climber
but cannot climb scaffolding, ropes, and poles, unless they are red. She must do complicated jumps and slides in areas where she [visibly] should be able to climb up an easier way.

It's meant to be 1st person. And it's awesome at that ^^

They need to make it like Farcry 2. I remember due to the epic 1st person-ness I was once COMPLETELY immersed. Like for real, I literally thought i was there, most immersed Ive ever been. (Excluding Morrowind ;D)
