1st person

I'd like my arm not up in my face blocking my view myself, thanks. Just like I don't want the "block parts of the screen to simulate a helmet" bit that some folks call for.

Meh. I can take this or leave it...

Er...add so much annoyance, maybe. Is my character just breaking in a new set of legs, or is there some other reason for him being a clumsy oaf? Or are you proposing a new walking control system where we have to manually use our controls to place each foot for each step?

I was using the arm in the face as an example really, just to get my point across. As for the falling I'm talking about when you actually fall of a ledge. Im not proposing a new way of walking or making the character really clumsy, just that once you've fallen a certain height that your legs cant handle then rag doll physics come into play and you watch from the 1st person your character helplessly tumble down a ravine. Instead of a "UH" and glide down the rest of the way. It makes no difference to how you play the game at all!

No actions should force me into 3rd person. I want to be able to experience the game entirely from a 1st person perspective if i want to.
Not like in Oblivion, where certain animations like sitting down, and getting paralyzed would automatically change the perspective to 3rd person before turning back to 1st person when the sequence was over.

Agreed with this, should stop the arguments on this topic.

My two cents... I love the idea, and immersion would increase ten fold. Also with animations like sitting down it would be really nice to keep them in first person. In Oblivion it feels dis-jointed. In first person, click on chair, zoom out to third person, sits on chair, back to first person.

I play in third person a lot of the time, and had the opposite problem, being forced into that first person close up for conversations. Seems this is fixed now, so maybe they have done the same for knockdowns and first person, though I wouldn't hold my breath with the finishing moves, seems like a third person game mechanic to me.
The games offer you the choice of viewpoint, so it just makes sense not to force you into the view at all.

Completely agreed!

I love 1st person view, but being a floating head with arms is really awfull...

Looking at some games like Mirror′s Edge and Arma II you can see the immersion that an improved 1st person view can provide!

Bethesda improved the 3th person view a lot... I just hope that they has not forgotten the 1st person view...
