1st person

Post » Thu Nov 18, 2010 6:32 am

If theres one thing I want in Skyrim it's this. The first person view needs to reflect what your character is doing. You should see your sword where it is in corellation to your body, you get me? Theres a blizzard in the mountains and your in game character puts his arm when your walking up against the wind. I'd like to see my arm sheltering my face thanks. You get knocked down to the floor and you hurry to get back up, again... I think you should see 1st person the entire animation of getting back up to your feet and readying your fighting stance. Imagine the shock when you put a foot wrong and tumble down a mountain! With the new and improved physics engine there using this will be easy to do and add so much to the game!!
Im sure the animation will be ten-fold on your characters so wouldn't it be nice to see them all from your avatars point of view! Like, actually from there point of view! In the past the 1st person and 3rd person were totally different animations and scripts. What I'd love to see is a grand, once and for all, reunitation of body and soul! What do you guys think about this? Did you really like how basic its been before now or did you crave more of a sense of being?! I know I did! Discuss!

And i want chicken, look dont offend, but its a little tiring to see 300 topics everyday to see what one wants to see in the game, sure, its some nice features and that all, but man! theres no other talking here but this! sorry if it may look off-topic but thats my two cents about the situation right now.
Cheers!

Don't think you'll get many (if any) arguments up to here. I think we all want that.

With the new and improved physics engine there using this will be easy to do and add so much to the game!!

I don't think this will be easy at all. I think it'll be very difficult to do well actually. But I'm no game developer by a long way.

Im sure the animation will be ten-fold on your characters so wouldn't it be nice to see them all from your avatars point of view! Like, actually from there point of view! (:whisper: you just said that) In the past the 1st person and 3rd person were totally different animations and scripts. Okay I think you're getting very over-excited here. Some of the stuff mentioned is not completely vital by a long way and I really don't get how 'reuniting body and soul' comes into this at all.

True, there are 1000 topics saying what people want in Skyrim a day. But rarely are they good ones like this. I disagree with the hand blocking the wind thing but only partially because I would find it annoying after a bit.

Edit: @ huntsman: The mod Deadly Reflex or UV (can't remember which) had a "false" 1st person view. It was 3rd person but the camera was slightly in front of your head so it looked like 1st person and you say all the good looking 3rd person animations. It was pretty nice, but I think it was removed in a later version, not sure.

I already have to spend 5-10+ min walking across part of the map through a blizzard and fighting God knows what.

Why should I have to spend an extra 5 min randomly falling down a hill and climbing back up?

Did I move my anolog stick .00000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of a millimeter to far to the right?

That makes no sense and would just end up being totally annoying.

Fail.

Indeed, people make too many assumptions. I don't think we should stumble in the snow but if we get paralyzed or knocked down in combat it should stay 1st person. Imagine charging at a Spider Daedra and then getting paralyzed by it. You freeze, and fall to the ground, your face (and therefore the camera) facing mostly the ground, lying just enough on your side to see the Daedra and her Spiderlings approach your motionless body.

And now we wait for another Arachnophobia thread.

It seems as though we have a choice to either drop immersion a bit or increase annoyance when talking about this.

If they are using the new havok engine with all the other aspects open to them by using it then yeah, I've done my research!

But what are you on about! Falling down mountains would be amazing! If implemented well it could make a mundane, go from a to b mission into an epic survival story! These are the things that create epics!

Essentially I'm saying that by far this would be the best way to add emersion to a game without going over board with the realism! I can do without total emersion but my god they should really be working on this!

The reuniting body and soul? You didn't get that! Pretty much putting the body (3rd person) with the soul (1st person) making them one. Easy. Body and soul, reunited!

honestly the whole staying first person when you get paralyzed or knocked down i love so if you got paralyzed for a second you wouldn't move then slowly fall and if you got knocked down you head/camera would violently fling around till you hit the ground to a sudden stop until u eventually got up i think it would create create a whole new level of emmersion and be the complete opposite from annoying i would look forward to it :D

Oh my days, you've gotta be kidding me. Your really stuck on that! Thats not even what I was talking about! You rate missed my point completely, Im not saying "falling down mountains is needed in the game" Im saying it would look cool if you fell off and you saw it all in 1st person! Besides! Learn how to walk in a straight line dude! it would just be as hard to stick to a path as any other game bro! Think about what your saying! Daaaamn... Or are you the kind of gamer thats into invisble walls?!

You would love my TESNexus signature. http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/1792/oblivion200907162100179.gif

Edit: I thought what the other person thought as well. Like if fell far enough where you were guaranteed to die (which is a simple calculation) it would automatically ragdoll you and you could see it first person? That would be awesome.

That they did.

I think a lack of quality info in recent times has negatively affected certain members, and laymen asking questions that have already being answered ignited them.

That they did.

Lack of new info I think. If we get some new info we talk about it until we are bored. Then suggestions based off new info and now this. If they locked this thread for a week to recharge we might all come back a little cooled off lol. Not that they should, that would svck.

I'd like my arm not up in my face blocking my view myself, thanks. Just like I don't want the "block parts of the screen to simulate a helmet" bit that some folks call for.

You get knocked down to the floor and you hurry to get back up, again... I think you should see 1st person the entire animation of getting back up to your feet and readying your fighting stance.

Meh. I can take this or leave it...

Er...add so much annoyance, maybe. Is my character just breaking in a new set of legs, or is there some other reason for him being a clumsy oaf? Or are you proposing a new walking control system where we have to manually use our controls to place each foot for each step?
