2011, another bad year in gaming.

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:35 pm

I was disappointed to see that less than 5 fantastic games were released last year. This year looks like more of the same stuff. When will games be developed for gamers, like they used to be. The day the general population stops caring about graphics and start caring about the gameplay and story of games, is the day gaming will rise to what it was in the 90s.

You can't expect tons of AAA games every year. It's called patience.

What? There's about 7 or 8 major titles coming out this year.

Of course, we don't know if they'll be good or bad. They look promising, though.

Besides, not all good games are hyped before release, and not all bad games are released under the radar.

We can't say for sure if 2011 is a good or bad year for gaming until New Year's Eve 2011... or pretty close to it.

I'm gonna have to disagree.

There have been so many good "mainstream" games in the last 5 years I could sit here for an hour typing out the list.

Although I'm hesitant to be rude, I must cautiously call troll on this one. 2011 is such an undeniably promising year for gaming I can't believe that this is a genuine thread.

You have to be kidding me.

The Witcher 2
ElderScrolls:V Skyrim
Possibly Thief 4

These are amazing games. Some of the best I have ever seen and all in one year.

Quality > Quantity

Also have a look at some indie games.

1. How old are you? (it's relevant)
2. Are you a footballer or something like that?

So many of the named games svck. I agree with the OP games these days are pretty bad.

That's why Starcraft 2, minecraft, NV and EVE are the only games I've played for the last 3 months and probably till Skyrim and Poratl 3 comes out.

Muchi Muchi Pork! & Pink Sweets
Mass Effect 3
Uncharted 3
The Last Story
Tales of Xillia
Final Fantasy Type-0
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Killzone 3
Hard Corps: Uprising
Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Pokemon Black and White
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Yakuza 4
Okamiden
The Last Guardian
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
L.A. Noire
Batman: Arkham City
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron

A handful of those aren't confirmed for 2011 release (or even outside of Japan). Even if half are disappointments, that's more games than I'll likely be buying for the next 5 years, let alone 2011.

This year we have a new Elder Scrolls, the conclusions to Mass Effect, and Gears of War, a new Uncharted, Killzone, Crysis, and Dead Space, as well as a whole host of new games from these developers like Rage, Bulletstorm, and Hunted. If you ask me, 2011 is a great year for gaming.

It's a shame the industry took a shift entirely towards the casual market. And by casual market I mean all of the 12 year olds who play Call of Duty, Halo, Medal of Honor, Mass Effect, etc.

Obvious troll is obvious. I'm just one of the many people who have realized how much worse gaming is now than it used to be.
