280 Perks / 18 Skills?

Post » Sat Oct 08, 2011 9:51 pm

Out of the perk trees they've shown, none have had 15 (or even close to 15) perks.

Is it possible they're only showing 60% of the perks available for the skills they've shown? Otherwise, where are they getting all these perks from?

Cause there are ranks, most perks will require 3 or 5 points to fully complete.

Ah, hadn't considered that. How lame of Bethesda if they count "X Perk, and X Perk rank 2" as two different perks to say there's more than there really is.

When todd stated the 280 thing, he also said that this was including perk ranks, but some magazines have misunderstood it as 280 actual perks, I think the actual number of perks is 220, or so is the rumor.

Yup, that's the only unrealistic thing about this game... Slowing down time and shooting fire from your palm isn't. Oh and how about dragons, totally realistic. If you want realism, try going outside ;)

It makes rogue's more like the bad boys no father wants their daughter to come across.

So sly and such a ladies man that he can get you naked without you even realizing it.

You can remove a guy's watch without him noticing, maybe a really good thief can quietly unbuckle your armor?

Considering they initially said there were 180 perks (still 3 maxed, or 4 normal level 50 characters to get them all), 280 including ranks sounds fine to me.

There's a difference between suspense of disbelief and realism. We at accept dragons and magic, because it makes sense in the mythological/fantasy setting. Unnoticeably removing armor without the use of magic just does't fit anywhere between suspense of disbelief and actual realism. "Magic and dragons" isn't a good argument for stuff like this. If so, we could just accept every bug that's in the game, every graphical glitch etc.

Technically the ranks are perks because they cost a perk point too. The official info says there are 220 unique perks and 280 with ranks so that is only 60 ranks. I think there are 12-16 skills that have at least one perk with ranks. Most of them have 5 ranks although some perks seem to have only 2-3 ranks.

I hate to burst your bubble but this takes place in a totally different world where maybe the masterthiefs have developed such slick fingers so that this is entirely possible or do you draw a line between magic and super fast and nimble fingers as something that's not "do-able"? If you have to then just convince yourself that you've been blessed by Nocturn himself, or do you have a problem with the gods as well? You my good sir just like to argue for the sake of the argument.

Have some faith in BGS, they prolly wont put things in the game that isn't defendable from an immersive point of view.

There are 95 perks listed in this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1233644-sammus-eurogamer-qa/

So if there are officially 220 unique ones, it's nice to know that those listed there aren't even half of what's available.

Btw, how many unique spells are there in Skyrim?

85 unique spells I think. About 17 for each magic school.

Hehe well in the spirit of Heroes, can't you just imagine that you stopped time and then removed his armour? Don't make it harder than it has to be friend!

That's 95 for 12 skills, Smithing has 10, pick pockets 8 without ranks, blade has 8, block has 9, so that's 130 without lock picking and light armour, and we know there are more Alteration perks, so looks to be about 150 unique perks.

The thread poster also states that those trees are incomplete. He didn't have time to note every single one.

Taking armor off of someone without noticing in the Elder Scrolls is not that farfetched, given that in the lore, there was a Khajiit thief that stole a tattoo from a noblewoman's neck while she slept.
