2nd Battle of Hoover Dam

Post » Wed Oct 09, 2013 7:26 am

So I finally managed to get to and through the final battle for the first time last night. Sort of anti-climatic, isn't it? I mean, it wasn't really so much a battle as it was just taking out 2 or 3 Legion hit squads, plant a .45-70 SWC in Lanius' face and then throw some star studded general off the edge of the dam. Done. Have to admit it left me a bit disappointed as I've had more intense battles with the Fiends. Best part was probably when the B29 flew by and dropped some bombs, but they only made one pass. All in all it was not quite as hectic or grandiose as I imagined it =(

Which side did you help. I find the Hoover Dam is best if you're Legion or NCR, in both you have to go to the deepest levels of the facility before meeting the boss. The satisfaction isn't the battle, it's the slideshow where you discover what effect your actions had on a specific community/person. That's what NV is about, your choices and the consequences, blowing up mooks is secondary.

I went with Yes Man, so I had to kill Lanius and General whats-his-name. I brought my entire armory for this job cause I thought it was gonna be crazy, Light Shining, Ranger Sequoia, Brush Gun, Red Glare, Thump Thump, Riot Shotgun, Grenada, Mines, you name it, I brought it along with enough ammo to, well, take down an army. I ended up one-shotting almost everyone I met up to and including Lanius, using only my Brush Gun. Terribly disappointing

I found House's side most enjoyable.

Spoiler
The B-29 bombing the Legion, the Fort going up like an inferno, talking down Lanius like a boss and watching the Securitrons rolling up behind Oliver then negotiating terms with Oliver and hear him get pissed off how the NCR thought they were the winning side only to realise they weren't. Truly the most beautiful side. :cryvaultboy:

Well that's pretty much exactly what happens with Yes Man too. At least to me. I just didn't find the "battle" very enthralling. It was more like a minor skirmish. I had expected the Legion to come at me with everything they had and clash with the NCR, but nothing ever really happened.

I even brought Ed-E and Arcade with me cause I was expecting to be pummeled, but as soon as I got onto the dam and realized it was almost entirely depopulated I just told them to wait cause I didn't want them to spoil my fun.

well you have to remember by the time you get there the legion and NCR have been fighting it out for a while so more or less you are mopping up who is left then taking out lanius. once i had 17 frag mines and 3 bottlecap mines so i set them all in a pile then shot lanius and ran away and he blew up and flew so far i never found his body XD
