My 360 just packed up on me.

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 9:46 pm

It's a hardware problem, 3 flashing red lights with the power light in green. Anyway I contacted customer support and the good news is it's still under warranty for a repair job, the bad news is it'll take 2-3 weeks before I see the [censored] thing again - nightmare :( I can't wait that long so I'll have to buy a new one whilst waiting, can't decide on brand new or preowned though, any suggestions?

P.S topic should be 360 my mistake.

You'd seriously rather spend $200 than wait 2-3 weeks for Microsoft to send back your console, which you're still getting repaired anyway?

Damn, I wish I had enough money that I could afford to piss it away like that...

In responce to the last 2 posts. I'm really into my gaming again, am currently playing 2 worlds (yes, I like it) and I'll be bored to tears waiting that long, I'm not even too fussed about TV. To be honest I even thought of buying a new one before now as a spare. When the old one comes back, it'll be a spare.

You can't wait 2-3 weeks? svck it up. When I sent my Xbox in for repairs it took me over 3 months to get it back, and I have done that 2 times already. 2 weeks is nothing. Go outside or hang out with your friends.

I'm not going into detail about personal things but if you were to know my situation, you might understand why 2-3 weeks is a long time for me to wait. I really would be bored to tears.

Unless you pretty much never leave the house, you can find things to do to relieve that boredom.

You really can't wait 3 weeks for your xbox to get to you? And you are willing to buy a new one just so you dont have to wait? Dude, its not going to hurt you to stop playing games for a bit. Go outside, ride a bike, hang out with friends, get a girlfriend, join a sports team, etc. Really man, its actually good to get outside a bit.

By the way when I said "any suggestions" I meant about buying new/preowned. New is around ?190 for basic model, preowned aroung ?115 but how reliable is preowned - really?

Guys - the guy asked for advice, not a judgment on the way he might prefer to spend his time and money. :stare:

As for buying pre-owned anything - it can be a crap shoot. You'd need to feel comfortable with whoever you are dealing with. Otherwise you could end up with two dicey 360s.

It'll be preowned from either Game or Game Station, probably the 2 biggest game retailers in the UK.

I assume by pre-owned, you mean refurbished? The only Xbox 360 I ever owned was refurbished and it lasted me a good 2 years before it finally died on me. Still, since you have the money for it, just get a new one.

In my idea I would wait till it gets back. I really see no need for another 360. Your lose just saying.

I got the E74 right after buying X-mon origins Wolverine (Which is actually a really good game action game) so I feel your pain. Took about 6 weeks for me to get it back.

Just ordered a brand new one for ?150. Since it was cheaper than I expected, I also decided to get the play and charge kit as I usually play with a wire controler.

I hope this doesn't piss off even more, the people who think I'm made of money. I probably shouldn't mention that I'm also going to get a new 26" LCD HD 1080p TV, just for gaming.

I'm glad I ordered it then, I only have to wait until Monday, who knows it could take more than 3 weeks.

Looks like you came to a decision. So I can close this now, before it wanders way off topic.
