360/PS3 Exclusive DLC

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:58 am

I have both the xbox and the ps3, my xbox has a very small hard drive for dlc, but my ps3 has 320 gb. I would like to buy this game on the PS3 coz of the hard drive space but i know that certain dlc, like the first fallout expansion was 360 exclusive. When do you guys think we will find out if there will be exclusive or even timed exclusive dlc or not? Before or after release? Does anyone know when they announced the exclusivity of the fallout dlc, maybe that would be a good precedent? Thanks for the info, its my first post even though iv been on this forum everyday since the annoucement.

I would think after release. I'm trying to think if the Dragon Age dlc was announced after or before release. But, i can't remember. I think it was around the release date. I would still prefer a full expansion to dlc's though.

I expect if there is DLC, it will come out on both sooner or later. What will probably happen is something similar to FO3's DLC - the Xbox gets it first, and some months later the PS3 gets it too. As a PS3 owner, I find it very annoying, but I don't think we'll be left out in the cold permanently.

Bethesda are an american company,so are microsoft.....they are bound to scratch each others backs.
I know where PS3 users are coming from,BUT,if microsoft is willing to spend money to make money, why aren't sony doing the same for thier fans. It's a reasonable question.

The FO3 DLC came out on the XBox 360 and PC first but they were released on the PS3 later. The first Fallout New Vegas DLC also had an initial exclusivity period on the XBox 360 but has since come out of all systems (and all future DLC will be released on all three systems at the same time).

It's possible we'll see something like this for Skyrim as well but at least it's likely that these exclusivity periods will be short and they'll reach the other platforms only a bit later.

Whats the point in all this EXCLUSIVE dlc... thats the kind of stuff that pulls gamer apart by starting all these console wars.. its pointless!

I dont mind paying for it because i make game maps n what not but i know how long it takes n the price is more than justifiable.

DLC for all one the SAME day

Because it's business my friend, sony have done it themselves in other ways,it's a competetive world,it's just the way things are. In topics like this i agree we should all get DLC at the same time. But untill bethesda or other companies stop,we won't. Be it sony or microsoft each one will want an edge. Like i said though, why don't sony do the same regarding DLC?

If it is like Fallout New Vegas they may decide to make the first DLC released an xbox exclusive, then all subsequent DLC's release on the same date.

Why should Bethesda even consider doing this unless Microsoft paid them more than their estimated income from sale of the dlc on PS3? Far more as this piss of customers
As I guess they sell around the same numbers of dlc on Xbox and PS3 and Microsoft get less than 50% on the profit they this will cost them money and I doubt it will increase the sale to compensate for it.
A first release on one platform and a later release on another is more probably, however this will also cost MS money.

I don't even understand what they hope to achieve. I'm not going to rush out and buy an Xbox because I'll have to wait a few months for the DLC on PS3.

Seeing as this game is being released for all three systems simultaneously, I doubt that any console will have official DLC that is exclusive.

Just get it for whatever system you prefer to play on.

Well said. Sadly, I can't see Bethesda's philsophy on this changing much between now (New Vegas DLC) and whenever Skyrim's first DLC is released.

I'm on PC and more than patient enough not to care about platform exclusivity... but the principle of it still irks me.

Hell no. I hate those console exclusives. I really can't see the point of releasing exclusive DLCs. Something about preventing piracy? Or perhaps just to annoy PC gamers?

I'm a PC gamer, and I sure get frustrated when DLCs aren't released for PC. Especially DLCs.

I'll make a petition for some PC exclusive DLC's. Do you like it? We PC gamers neither the other way.

I bet this topic will be closed in XX seconds, to avoid a flamewar.

i'd go for 360. it's just much better in general IMO.
better community, MUCH better controller, and it's just freaking much better. seriously, you pay a little per month but it's way better than ps3's online stuffs.

Get out, really devoted fan/troll. IMO, all consoles are equal.

I prefer expansions above DLC. Let's leave it at that.

what tends to happen is that xbox gets some to download, but the ps3 will get a diffrent verson later with all the download stuff for free. or there may be a collectors addition with some. or game of the year a couple of months after release

I have all three systems (though my 360 red ringed, so I've been avoiding it for the past 6 months), and I still don't like the idea of exclusive DLC.

I'll be getting Skyrim on PC, because I always get Bethesda/Bioware/Valve/Blizzard games on PC. Even if 360 got an exclusive expansion, I still wouldn't buy that version because it simply isn't the platform I prefer.

This is what many companies don't get. Instead of making their version of the game more appealing, exclusive content often winds-up just pissing everyone off.

Who buys another console to get dlc 2 months early??? It doesnt make much money if not any money at all...now if skyrim was exclusive on xbox i would hafta buy a 360 then..but no..microsoft doesnt realize that exclusive dlc doesnt move as much units as they think.

It would prolly start some huge argument about how u guys have mods already and can wait for dlc like the rest of us blah blah blah...we're gamers that love skyrim all the same..why is there segrgation between systems?? I only own a ps3 but i'd never be dumb enough to say its better than a pc..its an old piece of hardware..thats like saying my 2003 ipod is just as good as the latest ipad2 lol...i dont even see how we get fan boys

There are lot of reasons for segregation, which I won't discuss here because THEN definitely this thread will be locked.

When the DLC in question is announced, which you can bet won't happen until after Skyrim is released in November.

lol of course DLC will be given to microsoft users first. Here our a few reasons.
1. Bethesda is an american company like Microsoft.
2. Microsoft has deals and are super rich so they will always get the exclusives!

another example is that all of the demos and gameplays are done on xbox becuase for all the reasons above! XBOX will get all DLCs first. They will spend better time on the xbox becuase of all of these reasons. Everyone can get persuaded by money. Even Bethesda can. Good luck PS3 owners.
