360 sales obliterate PC and ps3 sales

Post » Sun Oct 17, 2010 3:22 pm

Well for reference lets say they sold 1 million copies.

580,000 copies on XBOX
270,000 copies on PS3
140,000 copies on PC

If say half the PC sales are not included, making the total 280,000.

This also makes the total number of sales: 1,140,000

So with digital downloads the ratio would be:

50.9% XBOX 360
23.7% PS3
24.6% PC.

Pretty decent.

Considering digital makes up at least (read: minimum) 60% of any AAA games sales on PC now (for valve games digital passed retail way back in 2008, so it could be even higher than that now, i mean, who buys boxes any more?), it's a big deal not to include digital. You'll likely find with digital included that the PC makes up around 30-35% of sales, as always.

Just like bad company 2 - apparently the game only sold a few % on PC as well, yet we know for a fact that there are about equal numbers on each platform. Don't get me started on black ops either, the apparent number of day one sales was LESS than the average number of players online on day one at any one moment on steam playing black ops!

Retail figures are useless without the inclusion of D2D, EA store and steam. Only profit reports are 'useful' and even then they basically say 'yup, all 3 platforms are about equal, with PC starting to beat the 360 recently'.

Do you really think any effort would be put into any PC version of any game if there was only around 15% in it?

Well it could have something to do with the fact that the 360 has no exclusives for this entire year and when something worthy does finally come out they jump all over it. Do you know how many shooters we have currently on our platform? More than the 360.

So far this year I've bought

KZ3
LBP2
Gran Turismo 5
MAG
Modern Combat (PSN)
SOCOM4 (april 22nd)

multiplats
A.C. Brotherhood
BlOps
Crysis
Dead Space 2

Don't get it twisted.

The vocal 40% that are unhappy with Crytek, are offset by the 60% that are satisfied.

It's those 60% (me included) that hope that DD sales will offset the poor retail numbers. Seems more likely that Crytek would try to make a large user base (PC) happy by releasing hi res textures and a settings tool.

On PC at least, as stated, digital sales are far higher than retail. Also, crytek get a lot more profit for every digital copy sold.

Seems like they sold enough to make Crysis 3. I'm a PC gamer, C1/Wars fan (love mesa BTW) and I'm really enjoying Crysis 2 (The campaign is just awesome and cinematic).

Who complains, has a point, the game could be massively improved, but it's still good.

The real deal is: will crytek learn with the errors? I'm really excited about Crysis 3. Remember guys, it will be next-gen, with new hardware (both in consoles and PC), and much likely one of the best games ever.

They dumb down a game a completely change the mechanics and some even specifically said to be because of limited controller buttons. The producer specifically states that if crysis was to go to console it would have to drastically change the games mechanics. Yet all of you still think they are focused on the PC. If they were focused on the PC we would have got a real DEMO and not the crap we received.

The game is missing so much of what made crysis unique. Why? because they had to cater to the larger audience. Why did they screw up the story? Because they did not want console users to be left out.

WHY DID we not get Sandbox 3? Well because either they havent figured a way to use it on console yet or are never going to release it so that we will purchase overpriced DLC's. Why is it the PC multiplayer is in horrible shape while Consoles for the most part are doing find. Open your eyes and realize that Crytek is no longer the holy grail of PC gaming that it once was. Crytek has now joined the hollywood DEV association and will continue to feed us consolized crap until PC gamers outnumber consoles.

The problem is, Crytek is going to take advantage of these sales figures and turn it against the PC community. Suddenly we will be a bunch of pirates that don't deserve a say or even an actual game to enjoy anymore.

Because it has nothing to do with the fact that we didn't get one true maxed out screenshot or video that was properly showcased by Crytek in the time leading up to launch. The only 'PC gameplay' video we got was a random level that didn't really do a good job showing the visual prowess of this game.

Crytek's actions are going to be 'justified' and gives them more 'reason' to make more console exclusives like Cockname: ****.

'LiveCreate' my ass. Consoles effected PC development more then they care to admit. If they truly wanted this a good PC game, they would have taken care of all graphical designs on the PC and downgraded things such as textures and whatnot to the console levels.

Too many morons with too many problems on PC. I have zero problems with my PC version. None. No crashes, can run on extreme at 100% smooth frame rates, played and beat single player campaign with zero issues (fun as hell), play mp often without a single issue. You people are retarded. Plus these figures mean nothing if it's only UK retail. Don't be such melodramatic dumbasses.

Hey Tard next time you claim to never have had any problem with the game. Make sure you haven't made a post stating you had a problem with the game.

Yeah I have the same problem too. I tend not to use nanovision because of this.

Your posts consist of telling people you go to the gym and calling people morons. Your either a meathead who doesn't know how to act like a normal human being or your some **** loser who is attempting to act cool on the only place your sad ass could ever be considered even remotely cool. The internet.

Well, retail sales will pretty effectively show how many copies were sold on ps3 as there is nowhere else to buy it, the ps3 has always been last in sales though...

Also, just to point out (the full explanation is in another thread) that total profit share of the PC with 60% digital sales (which, may i add, is a very good approximation to the actual number, since i've ran a few polls which all fall around 60-70%) would be a minimum of 47%.
