360 texture load in

Post » Sun May 15, 2011 1:38 am

So the update that was released on launch day that fixes 360's issues of texture load-in seems to have done nothing. I still am getting horrible looking blotchy textures everywhere I go. They take about 3-4 seconds to load in properly, resulting in most textures looking very splotchy. So was this issue much worse before the release? I certainly hope it is corrected to have 0 texture pop-ins!

Also the patch was supposed to fix rubber-banding lag. I still experience this quite often, about 50% of online games.

They did. A day one patch was released. If it did do anything, I will never know because I never played without it. I do get the blurry effect every once in a while and it's usually during a gun fight which is annoying.

I had the same poor graphics texture problem on my 40 Inch Sony Bravia XBR LCD. Once I move the game to my bedroom using my Sony 27 Inch CRT, the game looked a-lot better.
I think they designed this game to be used with CRT old school TV's. Look like I will be playing in my bedroom until they get this texture thing figured out.
I never experienced a game that was so blurry and distorted. Borderlands beats this hands down in the graphics department.

Id be curious what others say about the graphics quality on a CRT. Try it and let me know.

This. Also enjoy slightly faster load times.

Not sure what the game looked like before the initial patch, so I can't comment on that. They're currently addressing the lag issue hopefully we'll see something soon.

The next patch that is coming out soon will address the texture pop in and online lag. They are working on it.

I also have a CRT because I hate the aliasing you get with HD TVs. I haven't really noticed much texture load at all in game except at the start of the levels. Although sometimes there's texture delay more than others. Really strange.

the texture thing is really strange, I was playing brink on the 360.. 20 minutes ago, stood in the terminal map looking at a wall... 3/4 seconds and the textures pop in... and without moving, just turning to face the opposite wall.. the same happens, 3/4 seconds then *pop*

.. and if I turn right around and look at the first wall, the textures are back to blurry mess and have to pop in again, it was very strange to see

My room mate has this on his PC and it doesn't happen there :/

Seems to me this was done by design? For example: I'm crouching down behind an object; it is fully rendered. I pop out to fire off a few slugs and then duck down again. Now the object is a blurry mess for a good few seconds. This happens every time I repeat this action.

Also, I do have it installed to HDD. No difference at all.

how can this really be by design? it is so distracting and looks awful

and it's doesn't look like it's going on in the PC version :/

I'm on PS3, and I can safely say it's perfectly fine on MY PS3.

I've heard a LOT of 360 owners complain about this - MOST have been able to fix it by installing, but some haven't, or can't install for some reason. Only one PS3 player I know of has complained of this issue, so while it DOES exist for us to, it's on nowhere near the same level you guys have it. Hope they fix it soon for you - I've seen videos, and it's pretty awful.

So yeah, last night I plugged my 360 up to my CRT tv and the texture issue was noticeable better. I wonder if the game looks better in 480p instead of 1080p? The bug must lie somewhere in the 1080p code

It's definitely unfortunate. At least SD has acknowledged the issue and stated that they're working on a patch. I'd assume we will have a fix by the end of this week.

i changed my reference levels to expand as well as moved my HDTV settings to 1080p. dont know why but it was on 1080i. it made a world of difference with my HDMI cables.
