3ds max 2012 Problem

Post » Wed Jun 15, 2011 6:17 pm

Hi, I'm having a problem, with the Nif Plugins for 3ds max, I've just upgraded my 3ds max to 2012, and now my nif plugins are not working anymore, and I had checked online for updated plugins, but the latest is in 2011, for the 64bit.

I'm running on windows xp , 32 bit.

Sorry, but Niftools nifplugin does not support Max 2012.

Development has been halted for some time on that nif plugin, in regards to Max, because Niftools team still lack a Max developer for it.
I don't know when development might continue...

I had heard something a while back about someone who might help them with furthering the nif plugin support for Max, but I've heard nothing since then.

Your best bet is to try Blender 3D modeling program, for now.

And yes I would be that someone. :D My husband has picked up development of the NifTools plugin for Max, but it will still be several months before we're ready for release, although it should be out before Skyrim.

I'm surprised that 2012 is so different from 2011 that the plugin isn't working though. Which version are you using? We've been using 3.5.5.4728 and it works fine with 2011 32 bit. We haven't upgraded to 2012 yet though.

I get two errors upon start up

x the procedure entry point ?SetReference@ReferenceMaker@@UAEXHPAVReferenceTarget@@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library

and the second follows after pressing ok

x DLL failded to initialize. Error code 127 - The specified procedure could not be found.

:icecream:

As long as it gets some one to bring even it's current functionality to skyrims nif format I will be mega thankful. I mean the list of features in development is long enough so I won't moan too loudly even if I get that. I was expecting bugger all for a good while.

Interesting. And this worked with 32 bit 2011, right? Now you've got the MaxNifTools.ini in the plugcfg directory, right?

I upgraded from 2009. I have the DLU file in the (Plugins) folder, and the ini. file in the (plugcfg) folder

I looked around online and I noticed 3ds max added a new plugin folder called (Plug-ins) but placing them here didn't help either.

Which plugin are you using from the 3.5.5.4728 package? You need to use the 2010 version of the plugin. Also I copy all three files to the plugins folder: NifMagic.dll, NifMopp.dll and NifPlugins.dlu. The folder is plugins, not plug-ins.
