3DS

The definitive version is the one that can be played on the big screen :P Arguably the GCN version as it plays in a higher resolution than the N64 version (as do the Wii version) and have support for vibration (which I think the Wii version do not).

I don't know, the 3D might be neat. Plus, I like the addition of on-the-fly Iron Boot swapping. :P

Besides, I wasn't really planning on buying it the day it comes out. There are dozens of DS games that I'll be buying long before OoT 3D and by the time I'm through with those I'm sure other 3DS games will have caught my eye.

Innovation > stagnation

We're talking about the same industry, right? You'd be hard-pressed to find any innovation whatsoever right now, even from indie developers.

Well the topic is Nintendo. All their major franchises are the same ones they've been using for decades.

But they have been innovative with those franchises. :P

I dunno, It's usually just a graphical overhaul of the same basic formula every console generation. Mario Galaxy was pretty innovative, I'll give them that, but games like Pokemon and Mario Kart never seem to change at all.

How often when you been everywhere you go have you been thinking "oh my gosh, I sure wish I could play OoT right now!" instead of chatting with your friend or whatever you do when you go everywhere you go? :P

well im in a car with my parents or on a plane so yeah, i want to play OoT. Dont hang out with friends at all since they live far away and i see enough of them at school.

a lot of things dont change nami. ive been wanting a different formula for a long time in pokemon and Ash seems to forget everything each time he goes to a different region.

I'm pretty close to canceling my preorder. The launch lineup is absolutely terrible. I was going to buy it for Pilotwings alone but it looks like they totally bastardized that game with the Wiitarded color palette and aesthetics. And only 3 vehicles. I want a true sequel to Pilotwings 64, not some Wii Sports Resort offshoot.

To me, the 3D was always pointless, just a stupid gimmick. I was mainly in it for the increased horsepower and the anologue stick. But now that more gameplay videos are showing up, the 3DS does not look as powerful as I expected. It was allegedly more powerful than a Wii, but the games look choppy whereas most Wii games are 60FPS. Hard to tell if the screen technology just doesn't lend itself to being filmed, or if the games really are choppy, but if they aren't 60FPS like Wii games then the 3DS looks to be similar in power to the original PSP. Given that I have a lengthy PSP backlog of games much better than the 3DS launch games, not much point in the system unless it offers something over the PSP.

By the time the 3DS has decent games, the NGP will be here and it looks like an absolutely killer system. It's basically as if Sega had launched the Dreamcast right next to the PSX and N64...so far ahead that it makes the competitor look laughable. I never wanted gimmicks like 3D and second screens, just gorgeous games on a single high quality screen, so I guess I'm not in the 3DS demographic.

You know the 3D has a slider right?

ya I do, but I would have to keep turning it off all the time. My eye doctor told me that I have very sensitive eyes and to protect them as much as possible. Turning it off all the time would make the system pointless and I'd rather buy the DS that came before it.

So apparently the 3DS sold about 400,000 copies on the first day in Japan.

Nope. Not interested in more re-releases of old games.

Now that I think of it, I can't think of any original DS games, besides the virtual pet types.

DS games bored the crap out of me. I've long since moved on from Nintendo, just the same [censored] being churned out year after year. Hell I can just start playing through a Zelda game by memory right now, and it's basically all of them. There's two distinct styles though. Ocarina Style, and Majora's mask style which I don't think has ever been done again in a new game. So I'm good, have the 64 downstairs. Nothing else interests me. It doesn't help that I get motion sick really easy on bus/car rides which is pretty much 96% of where I would be using this thing.

I wouldn't even buy it if a Monster Hunter came to it, not after the bastardization that was Tri. Beat most of the game in leather armour with a basic sword. *sigh* so [censored] easy.

I played with one in Game yesterday and was massively underwhelmed. :( It was some built in game where you move the camera about and shoot things in the air. I actually handing it back and said 'can you switch on the 3D functionality' and he said 'um that is the 3D....'

Um nah. Some added depth but I think calling it 3D is a bit of a misnomer. I may be corrected when proper games are seen on it though.
