3DS

A topic for all you Nintendo lovers out there. With only about a month until launch day, I am finally getting very excited at the chance to play Nintendo's next handheld system. While the actual 3D aspects of the system are kind of cool, the real reason for me getting the system is the extra power the little guy has. The visuals I have seen for a number of games is definitely impressive and shows a large improvement over the original ds. While the launch titles for the system are pretty hit or miss, I am definitely going to be leaving the store with Rayman 3d (yes I do own the original for the ds, and the N64 version . . . and Dreamcast), the Sims 3, and SuperStreetFighter 4. Well what do you guy think about Nintendo's soon to be new release? What are you getting for it? Why aren't you getting it?

I have a Cosmo Black 3DS pre-ordered, but no games right now. I will however be picking up Radiant Historia, Okamiden, Dragon Quest VI and a bunch of other DS games I've missed. I might look into Samurai Warriors, but I've learned my lesson picking up a bunch of mediocre launch titles just to have something to play. Original DS games will be more than enough to hold me over until Kid Icarus, Ocarina of Time, Star Fox, etc. start coming out.

Nope. Not interested in more re-releases of old games.

I might buy one when there are games available for it that interest me. But I don't really expect it to happen anytime soon, as it took about 5 years until I bought a DS (which still will be used this year with Ghost Trick, Okamiden, Radiant Historia and Dragon Quest V (not VI :P))

Mega Man Legends 3 is interesting though, but I refuse to buy a machine for just one game, it has to offer more than that :P

I'm trying to convince family members to pool together and buy me one for my 30th birthday this November, but until then I'm not worried about it. I'll still be able to play Dragon Quest VI on my regular DS. I am looking forward to Kid Icarus and the re-done Zelda Ocarina game. More wishing they would redo A link to the past(SNES game) more though, but ahh well, beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Nice. Didn't know they were coming out with a new Megaman legends. Didn't even know there was a second megaman legends. Must not have been for the 64 (megaman 64: 2). You just made my day. :woot:

At best I can see them coming out with a 3DS XL, some new colors and maybe better battery life, but the overall design of the 3DS doesn't seem to be crying out for a drastic redesign like the original DS did. I suppose they could fit a slightly larger screen on top without changing the form factor to something DSi XL-esque though.

If they eventually do, it'd better be matte black. I don't know why everyone keeps going for the glossy, fingerprint magnet black these days. :meh:

It's region-locked, so if you get a US one, you wouldn't be able to buy and play games released in Europe.

Bleh. They said it'll be affordable, but affordable coming from "$599 U.S. Dollars" doesn't say much. $250 for the PSP at launch, and now 3DS, is about as much as I'm willing to spend on a handheld. That and the strong focus on social networking/multiplayer is a bit off putting. I've already had to make due with consoles turning into FPS multiplayer boxes, handhelds were the last bastion of hope for quality singleplayer these days. :meh:

Still, the developer support list is impressive, with Square-Enix, Konami, Capcom, NIS, etc. I'm sure I'll own one eventually.

This is the reason that I want one. The 3G connection, 2 cameras, 2 touch screens and PS minis may also have something to do with it.

Not going to get it, since none of the games interest me. Except for Okamiden, but I could probably borrow my dad's or brother's DS to play it if I really needed to play the game. :P

The other game was Resident Evil Revelations... I think there are some other Shin Megami Tensei games coming out on it too.

Apparently two more unnamed SMT games, one being Persona. Also an Etrian Odyssey in the works I guess.

Get a phone? None of that is really useful on a gaming device....

I was interested until I found out the 3D aspect of it only works when you hold it a certain way.

There's a slider on the side that changes the depth of the 3D effect. You can adjust it to work with just about any position so long as you're in front of the screen.

I love my DS Lite, but I'll hold off on the 3DS until it has that one game I absolutely must have. Currently my handheld obsession is Rune Factory...so whenever one of those comes out for it I'll spring for the 3DS. :P

I've been wanting a DS but every time I look at one I hear there is something new coming out so I hold off. Not sure I'm getting this one either.

You should totally get a DS Lite. The thing has a really long battery life and plays GBA games too. Absolutely worth the investment no matter how late in the game it is.
