Well I really don't think that Battlespire and Redguard count as the series seeing as they were spinoffs but yeah, your correct, battlespire your a Battlemage in training. Arena you start in the same place as you do in Oblivion and Daggerfall is the only "true" TES game that you didn't start as a prisoner. Instead you started out as an emissary from the Emperor to the City of Daggerfall.

It's so weird, but when I look at your avatar, I see a cartoon something like the Spongebob Squarepants character Patrick star (actually Sheogorath's face) riding a sled down some water/snow (actually his hair and beard) while smiling (Eyebrow ridge I think, also his eye = sheogorath's eye). Anyone else see that? Have a good look.

Blame those Americans. :whistling:

My time zone is GMT -3. So it's not a big deal to me, yesterday's update went up on 11PM and Monday's was at 4PM if I recall correctly.

I like the update - it's good to have a mixture of backstory and content. :) I wasn't around for Oblivion's prelaunch so am really enjoying the build up with Skyrim. :)

I know exactly how you feel!!! This is the first game that is set to be released that I am super hyped for... I trawl these forums way more often than one should. Anything for an update!!! :shifty:

Sometimes its time to change something or it becomes stale, this is one of those things IMO. Not a deal breaker, but surely very unoriginal.

I think it's good that they continue with the prison thing.. Maybe make it a little more interesting and shorter than Oblivion's Prison though, but Starting in a Prison = Real TES Game! :D

It's not a tired out story, it's a tradition. It's as Tamrielan as Akatosh and Spriggan pie.

Its unrealistci, been done a thousand times, its not terrible, buts it reeks of a lack of ideas and originality.

Hmm why do they call them hub updates? Aren't they....hubdates?  :bolt:

On topic...well, not sure there is a topic....It'd be nice to get a better handle on the combat system. Combat controlling is getting way too complicated for me, so a nice simple electrode to the scalp would be anice improvement. It could be propriatory as well, therefore reducing DLC costs ;)

HA! Good Fun!

Yeah, I don't get it. Sure it was done in almost every Elder Scrolls, but that's TES the way it should be. Prision starts and dungeons in every game, it wouldn't be the same without it.

But I have to agree that the initial dungeon in Oblivion was boring and got really annoying after sometime, but after what Bethesda had done with Fallout 3 and the Vault 101 tutorial, I am eager to see what they will come up with this time.

Some traditions wear thin, this is one IMO. many traditions have come and gone, its unrealistic for every game to start as a prisioner or in a prison.

Why would it be unrealistic? Have you never seen someone get released from jail?

*Shrug* It's practical, for one thing : starting that way, in a secluded area gives you the "blank past" state needed to build yourself a character and a story. As for lack of ideas, I don't think it's the case in this instance : they could start otherwise if they wanted. It's pretty much like what they did with the Jeremy Soule Theme since Morrowind : you can pick a similarity, a continuity, but it's different all the same.

I kinda like it. Gives a sense of continuity. :)

HUH? Thats not even relevant, yes it happens, but for every Hero in every elder scrolls game to end up in prison, only to get released and learn he has special powers and saves the world is unrealistic and unoriginal.

What about you naming one thing another RPG has done that TES hasn't done?... hm...

---------------------------------------

And about it being unrealistic? Have anyone ever said that the Elder Scrolls Games are supposed to be realistic?
It's a fantasy series... It's supposed to be a little unrealistic! :D
