3rd Person Or 1rst Person?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:48 am

Are you planning to play this game at all in third person (If there is) Or just full-out First person.

For me I will use 3rd person if im in a tuff battle and i need to see whats around me other than that first person.

And I enjoyed walking through the forest looking at my character.

Reply from :Velorien: The ability to switch between first- and third-person is one of the best added features in the Elder Scrolls series, is what makes other games where you cant switch between the two miss being able to. (I must say i agree completely to this)

1st person, to doubt, that′s what made me love TES to begin with, the ability to see things threw the "eyes" of my character.

Wouldn't a poll be fitting here?

1st person for me. Always.
As Ralos, also one of the main reasons I started liking TES.

I alternate between the two quite regularly, depending on the situation.

I like 3rd person. It's not been practical in past games, but I'm hoping they make it better. Also, 1st-person's horrible for melee combat, because the field of vision is restricted to 3/ths what it should be, and striking at a spot directly in front of your facing and keeping it there even when changing facing in mid-swing is not realistic and leads to stupid accuracy issues in both ways (someone trying to dodge an attack is countered as the blade keeps its momentum in relation to only the direction the guy's looking, and he just continues to look at you, or your blow going somewhere stupid because you try looking around mid-swing.

Also, I like being able to watch my cool-looking character look cool as (s)he kicks ass.

1st person for combat.
3rd person for everything but combat.

I didnt want to do a poll becouse just becouse Its getting annoying seeing all these topics and lots of them are just the option to vote yes or no.

Plus I enjoy reading peoples post more then seeing what got most votes.

I usually walk around in third person, but I'll switch to first person if I get into combat, need to go into stealth mode or enter a dungeon.

That might change if they improve the third person combat. I like being able to see my character!

First person primarily. Occasionally popping into third person for various reasons. I really hope we're not a pair of floating arms and eyes in Skyrim...

I can't understand anyone who does not make use of both perspectives.

I dominately play in third person. I like to see my character and when fighting multiple enemies or quick-moving enemies, I want to be able to see if something is behind me and things like that. I also like to use first person when in narrow hallways or if I want to examine something close-up.

I hope 3rd person will be playable this time because it just didn't work in oblivion and I admit I prefer 3rd person, especially in RPGs, I like to see my character.

I play the game in first person, but sometimes I enjoy walking around in third person.
Actually the first person perspective was the thing that really made TES interesting to me.

With the revamped combat and the new engine I think beth is going to make the third person option just as viable as first person. I actually think they are going to heavily focus on third person.

First person exclusively, more immersive.

Do you typically play your character as yourself or as an extension of yourself? I ask because I find it more immersive to play in third-person because I do not view myself as my character while I'm playing.

I use and prefer the first person view,i just think it's better ( more realistic ).
I use 3rd person or the change view button,to view my character (what he looks like in different gear etc ) :)
How my character looks is important to me.But i always fight, shoot or whatever in first person.

It depends on my mood. Typically I would always fight in first person and travel the lands in third person. But depending on how third person comes out, and even first, we shall see. I'll probably stick with first though. Like many others said, it was one of the appeals to getting into Morrowind.

i dont know how Skyrim will turn out, but in oblivion i used 3.person whenever i used weapons to fight with, and 1.person view whenever i use magic.

Hopefully it will be easier to use magic in 3person in Skyrim.

You know, the ability to switch between first- and third-person is one of the best added features in the Elder Scrolls series, in my opinion. Ever since playing Morrowind, I always miss that feature in any third-person or first-person game I'm playing. It's really useful.
