3rd person or 1st? : Fallout: New Vegas

Me I prefer to play in the 3rd person because I like to see my character, and Fallout IMO doesn't seem like a FPS especially FO3. The only time I go into 1st person is when I'm looking for traps or items in a dark location. Anyone else?

I agree with you, I love 3rd person. I do use 1st somtimes, depends on what kinda gun im using but 3rd is awsome especially with melee weapons!

I will use 1st with long range rifles with ironsights (hunting rifle) or grenade launchers because its easier to judge the angle that way but most of the time I am in 3rd :thumbsup:

Edit: But I do actually use 1st quite a bit more than I did in Fo3 simply because there ARE ironsights and I think New Vegas actually does give a pretty good 1st person feel compared to Fo3. But I still prefer 3rd person

Yeah NV does offer a better FPS experience, but I'm still a 3rd person guy :goodjob:

Always third while traveling/exploring and 1st when I'm looting or shooting with SMG's/Automatic Weapons. Third rules for melee fighting and unarmed combat.

Whenever I wear power armor aiming in 3rd person is useless, because all you can see is your shoulder. 1st person for me.

Yeah I tend to use 1st person when shooting the assault carbine, or SMG's aswell. But I actually switch off too and use 3rd when firing those weapons at times...lol Im a flip-flopper..

Yeah, except when using "O' Baby" with power armor, then 3rd person is saweet! Doing the spin attack is awsome to watch..lol

That is another good method, in cramped dark places 1st is good so you have more room to see stuff and dont haveto look around your character

Don't get me wrong...I am more of a third. But..I guess when it comes down to it, I really use both. First for shooting with nonscoped weapons and looting. I'm probably a 60/40, pending the character, favoring third.

Yeah im about the same, maybe more like 70 / 30 favoring 3rd aswell

3rd wherever practical; (I like to see where my character is). FPP for examination would be good; better if things like traps were actually invisible unless the PC made a perception check.

Looks like a lot of people use 3rd person more than I thought. Cause the friends I have that actually play Fallout always do 1st. Nice to know there's more 3rd person players out there :goodjob:

Sadly... They only include the [improvements in the] TPP mode to appease the UK market.

When it comes into heavy shootouts, I'm using the 1st person. Or when I'm finding notable loot (upgrades for the sink in OWB for example)
Otherwise, I'm using the 3rd person.

First person always, as I find it more immersive (although I do sometimes switch to 3rd person just to see what my character looks like!).

It is good to see that I am not alone in my view preference. 3rd person is the way I like to play, the 1st person perspective is for aiming bows or magic projectiles and investigation, it’s really nice to see that I am not alone in this thinking. :thumbsup:

I'm a first person kind of guy because I like the "immerse" feeling, but I occasionally go in third just see my self walking around.

I always found it more difficult to aim and pick up loot in third-person, it feels too cumbersome to me. I also prefer first-person since it makes me feel like I'm more involved with the story and it feels like I'm exploring the Wasteland instead of my character.

Mostly first. I used 3rd sometimes when I'm walking around and feel the need to see the surrounding area.
