3rd Person Cams

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:19 am

With all of the sweet customization happening and the amazing parkour moves, having the camera set in the 1st person feels like going to the casino and breaking even. I mean, don't get me wrong. You feel good about leaving even, but you wonder if you would have taken a bit of a chance, how sweet would the pay off be?

3rd person camera would have put this game up to 11 in my book. I want to see my Predator looking Revolutionist running rampant through the Ark in all of his parkour glory. I love seeing my character in the 3rd person when I'm planting explosives or setting up a hack box. Now why can't I have that all the time?!?!

Just a thought...

Would've been amazing but with a bit of thought it's not difficult to see why it was probably removed.

All the sliding under tight objects and running through very tight corridors would make third person camera pretty annoying, the camera pitch would have to keep changing and you'd get more motion sickness then you already get when running over something in SMART mode. It's why Gears is always high roofed open areas.

Technically this feature is still in the game via spectator mode and Sense of Perception.

The character-animations in BRINK aren't that great (despite what Splash Damage were saying before release). Giving people a 3rd-person-view would probably cause even more whaa whaa.
That being said, BRINK was also not designed for 3rd-person-gameplay.

As much as I love 3rd-person-shooters and supported the idea for BRINK before release, I now have to say: Not a reasonable option to give.

I'd rather we got pics of the players on the "Awards" screen. Lets you show off your creation at the same time as showing off how awesome you did.
