3rd person finishers.... seriously.....

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 11:03 pm

I thought they would really bother me but honestly they've been stylish, infrequent, and really just enjoyable when they do occur.

I personally love them. My character is already awesomesauce and the finishing moves are like a cherry on top.

How prominent are finishers for stealth and archery? Will I see a finishing move everytime I insta-kill via backstab or bow?

Thanks

I would say over 90% of the time when Im power attacking the last wolf in a pack I get the same crappy finisher each time... I honestly dont mind normal finishers, they look kinda cool... but 3rd person just svckS BALLS!!!!!!!!!!

Bethesda guys, care to give any hints about if you have plans to add an option to disable the finishing moves? it would be much appreciated.

People, please keep the console/platform bashing out of here so we can keep this thread open for discussion.

Its really not that serious. At all.

Not to you.

Fortunately, mods to fix this shouldn't be far off. There's already one to disable finishing moves entirely, which is a good start. It's a shame for the console gamers who take issue with this, though.

theyre pretty cool but right now i usually use a bow. but it would be good if they could be disabled, like in NV.

I have a love hate relationship with the finisher moves. When they happen over and over again, and I know there is a variety of them, instead they end up being the same move I get bored. But if my character hasn't done a finisher move in a while, I love them again.

Should be possible with TES5Edit or the CK once either or hopefully both arrive.

Hopefully the Creation Kit isn't far off.

I am seriously having the same problem. Doesn't the sword and board have more kill moves other than the impaling one? Well, I am getting only that.

I'm not liking this much either. Worked better in FO3/NV and guns.

I see maybe 1 every 3 hours or so, and its epic every time. Not sure how you could possibly be triggering so many unless your a pure melee character or something.

I actually like them but I agree they should have a toggle switch for those who don't.

I love the finishers especially when i see NPCs do them. Plus they do make my character look bad ass.

I love them :) :) :)

I want them eveytime, I dont feel like it's a real kill unless I get a finish move. and they are much quicker than fall outs so seriously nothing to complain about

There are about a dozen things that they should have included toggle switches for in the options. Still, hopefully the Creation Kit isn't far off.

unless your a pure melee character or something.

That may have something to do with it, yes. I'm playing a 2-handed sword-wielding character, pure melee (no archery/magic), and I'd estimate I see about one finisher every 8-10 encounters.

How often do they appear for backstabbers?

I don't like it either. The first person cinematic kills are alright, but when it suddenly jumps from first to third person and my sword isn't even going into the beast I'm supposedly stabbing to death, it can ruin the immersion somewhat.

Well I love them. They don't take 10 minutes to watch like Fallout 3's VATS kill moves.

Actually, FO3/NV was often complimented -because- the finishers weren't TOO annoying. Especially since you were conditioned to the fact that finishers only came with VATS, which you had to activate yourself and therefore your subconscious knew it was coming.

And while we never know when they're coming in Skyrim, they're very quick and after ~4 hours of gameplay, they haven't gotten old. My only issue is an unavoidable one, the fact they things clip around pretty much in every animation.

No matter how cool they look in 3rd person, they would be so much better in first person. Hopefully we will see a Mod soon that replaces all the 3rd person scenes
(as in finishing moves, horse riding, werewolf and crafting) with the first person view.
It shouldn't even be too hard to do that.
