3rd person over the shoulder view? NOOOO!

Post » Wed Jun 16, 2010 3:54 pm

Bethesda say they have improved 3rd person mode... which can only realistically mean over the shoulder GOW style. Considering the trend in most 3rd person games.

I predict a cover system too.

Am I alone in my utter abhorrence of over the shoulder view in 3rd person games?

yea I don't like over the shoulder view either, gives me headache, which is why I never used 3rd person view in FO. When skyrim is out I'll wait for the mod to fix it before buying it

1. It's optional, first person will probably be better as usual.

2. The shoulder view is a trend because it works.

For the note: I also believed that view was horrible when I began to play ME, and it turned out to be one of the most confortable I've never played...

So, if you've never played that way, give it a try before saying anything.

Over the Shoulder will be much better for any mages or archers - in oblivion, playing either of those in third person had you using your own head as a large, inconvenient crosshair!

I never play first person if I there is an alternative (certainly not in an RPG).

Bethesda say they have improved 3rd person mode... which can only realistically mean over the shoulder GOW style. Considering the trend in most 3rd person games.

Or it could mean that... they improved the 3rd person camera. The third person screenshots (obviously not necessarily a good indicator, since they could put the camera anywhere in those) don't make it look like it's going to employ an over-the-shoulder view, and over-the-shoulder is still only a trend for shooters - most third person games don't use it.

I predict a cover system too.

That makes literally no sense.

Obviously he doesn't agree with Bethesda that this change is an improvement.

It's all academic anyway, since we know few details.
