3rd Person

Why do so many people hate ADS?

i don't hate it. I just prefer hip firing. The "problem" is that I can't think of any objective based game like Brink (except ET) that only has hipfire. (and yes people, I know there's ADS in Brink). I just want ADS to be an option, rather than a must. Ofcourse, they should have their advantages and disadvantages. Just not in a way where you are forced into ADS at nearly all ranges except melee/very short range. /end speech

It's basicly a very enhanced replay-editor/viewer.

Sadly GTA IV Theatre mode is only in the PC version :(

Back on topic. I am not a fan of 3rd person shooters, because of the whole 'you can look around corners' tactic. I find it cheap. Plus i like a more realistic playstyle personally.

There Isn't a 3rd person mode I.e switch between 1st and 3rd at will etc..

But There is a 3rd person view ability that sends the camera into 3rd person when doing an objective I.e planting an explosive.
So you can see if anyone is coming up behind you *cough*...Wraith...*cough*. :ninja:
(Or to check out your character as well)

But IMO people wanting a 3rd person mode just so they can see the way their character looks.
Is like not making yourself look good to go out (I.e On a date, nightclubbing etc..), just because you can't see yourself all the time.
Just my Opinion, not tryin to be rude  .

You forget creeping up from above... where is your god now?

Also: "Cod has it" is NOT a valid point.

And it never will be.

Overall, I think there is a time a place person shooters - and it isn't in Brink. I have nothing against 3rd person shooters, Star Wars Battlefront was excellent in 3rd person, but for Brink I believe having it strictly in first person works the best.

However, if they were to add 3rd person elements, I think they could do it like how UT does it, where at the end of a match, the highest scoring players on the winning team is shown in 3rd person. Maybe they could do the same thing for Brink, or maybe show everyone on the winning team in 3rd person, perhaps with victory animations?

I am so angry that Battlefront 3 was cancelled since the company making it when under.

Why do so many people hate ADS?

Because lots of them are PC gamers and hate anything that slows down gameplay.

just a quick one but after hearing all your views and opinions ive sort of changed my mind a bit but would still be happier if it was in the game even just private/custom games rather than not at all

anyone agree? disagree?

My opinion: BRINK was made to be a FPS but if you look at previews for Ghost Recon Future Soldier then it looks like it could work. your in third person when your running around this will allow you to see the battle field and your character (im kind of questiong why their is so much cuztomization in a FPS) but when you aim you will be snapped into a FP camera angle. this seems like it could work because imagine SMARTing in third person. you xcan see your envirnment btr and where your going to go and whos theri

i guess that could work, the only problem i see with that is reloading, as im guessing it would snap out of FP and into TP then you have to aim back down the sights and you have probably moved since then and your crosshairs would be in a different place

I think they should have a gamemode like 3rd person tdm like on mw2 Then it would give people the choice to play in thirdperson or first person :obliviongate:

Well its really too late for it to be implemented. Please but it on the Brink 2 wishlist or go play MW2 or Gears of War.

That is something which really bothers me a lot, too. And I just can't imagine why nobody besides me ever seemed to have the idea to blend out everything your character can not see. Fog of war, anyone?

If they stop developing the game after it's released - INSTANT FAIL! .... Just sayin'.

Most developers will not introduce any new modes unless they were planned before release. Since there has been zero mention of it I doubt is planned.

1. How is it too late to be implemented? It doesn't interfere at all with the game, it's a new mode, so it can easily be part of an update.

2. Stop saying go play CoD mw2 and such, people came here to play Brink.

3. Yes this is a FPS, doesn't mean it can't have a TPS game mode, it's an addition aka not removing anything from the game.

4. TPS would be a very nice addition, when I first heard about this game I was very happy since I thought it was a TPS, it being a FPS was sort of a let down but still good either way.

5. Forced ADS svcks, I like hip firing at close-medium ranges.

First of all, SD is making sure that hip firing is completely viable, if you take the right weapons and weapon upgrades. Stability, larger clips, and rate of fire are your best friend.

Secondly, they couldnt just add a TPS mode without altering the game, things like being able to look around corners means that they would have to rebalence the game to make it work right. It might not be as hard as balancing a whole game from scratch, but it is something they would need time to do. Look how long its taken them to balance the normal game type...it was supposed to release a year ago.

Not to mention that it would split their fan base in half.

Only the [censored] developers who don't care about the community after the game has reached a set amount of sales.

You probly didn't word it right... But anyway there is more than likley a Lan/System Link so thats an offline option.
But if you meant a non matchmaking Mode (Instead of "not online" like you said) there is a Co-op mode and private matches (Competitive) that can be for just you and your friends.
(Aka. Opening your Co-op game to more friends can turn it into a competitive match).

But there is only single player, online play (Co-op / competitive) and offline System link/Lan. (Maybe the Lan/system link can hybrid and go online as well?)

Anyway hope that helped

1. Because everyone else can see you
2. Whenever you are not in-game, (main menu, options, credits, etc.) your player will be visible to you.

Your player will also show up in the cutscenes.

That is a poor reason to want a 3rd person mode
It's like saying What is the point of getting dressed up (Looking good) for something (Date, movies, party), if you can't see yourself.

1. Because everyone else can see you
2. Whenever you are not in-game, (main menu, options, credits, etc.) your player will be visible to you.

Your player will also show up in the cutscenes.

"Brink is a new First Person Shooter from our studio Splash Damage, even if you don't like first person shooters you can still play in 3rd person".

That, honestly, sounds vaguely familiar. I feel like I've heard that before, in an actual interview.

I honestly don't see how anybody can feel 'it'll make the game worse' it could just be a game mode like in CoD mw2 [forgive my sin of saying thou awful name].
