T"he armor is fitted with a back-mounted TX-28 MicroFusion Pack which generates an output power of 60,000 Watts to power the HiFlo hydraulic systems built into the frame of the suit. Made of a poly-laminate composite, the outer shell of the T-51b is lightweight and capable of absorbing over 2500 Joules of kinetic impact. The 10-micron-thick silver ablative coating can reflect laser and other radiation emissions without damage to the composite subsurface. The armor usually carries enough fuel to last for one hundred years. " T-51b articles on The Vault

T-51B has better stats, but I like the looks of the T-45D.

The Vault is wrong about a lot of things, and although you can keep trying, the fact is that the stats of Power Armor in the original games, where it was actually as strong as it is supposed to be in lore, it had an extremely high fire resistance.

You've gone from saying fire proof.. to saying fire resistant.

T-45d looks sick as hell compared to T-51, that's and the double strength bonus are its real strong points. I just wish it didn't make you move so darn slow and that it actually had DT befitting power armor. But the aesthetics are the main selling point.

I'd say Mako is in the right here. ( Damn I need to stop agreeing with him. )

Anyway T-45d is inferior to T-51b. T-45d looks pretty sweet but Gamebryo or whatever you want to blame it on can't do T-51b justice.

Too bad T-51b looks better than all of these. The one with the fish bowl helmet looks funny.

If you ask me they all look butt ugly. Except the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Enclave_power_armor_%28Fallout_3%29 :hehe:

I respectfully disagree. Except about the helmet :hehe:

I agree with the exception of the airforce one, that one look pretty kick ass.
But how would a guy in that armor fit in the cockpit of a fighter, or is it some super light paratrooper armor?

There's no point in wearing an armor when flying a fighter, so i'd suspect it's meant as a paratrooper armor.

T-45d helmet > T-51b helmet

Too bad the t-45d armor looks way too small. Needs to be redesigned.

Ablative (Noun) : Able to disintegrate or be worn away at a very high temperature: eg. a thick layer of ablative material
I looked up the word "ablation", apparently it has things to do with fire protection. For example: "In spacecraft design, ablation is used to both cool and protect mechanical parts and/or payloads that would otherwise be damaged by extremely high temperatures."

So what it means, I bet, is that the 10-micron-thick silver coating protects the armor from fire and lasers, but with time and exposure to fire it wears out, it's ablative. The ablative surface is there to protect from fire by having the fire eat it up instead of the armor. So, Power Armor is fire resistant... until the 10-micron-thick silver coating is used up.

Nah I think the 'ablation' used in *Spacecraft* design refers mainly to the gold that is used to reflect the super intense solar radiation that they are exposed to once they breach atmo...
The actual fire resistant 'plates' that the shuttles etc have on the underneath, hmm, I'm not sure but I don't 'think' they can be classed as ablative tbh?
