460 SLI Even Smoother Gameplay than a 580 ;) on max

Post » Mon Jul 04, 2011 8:10 pm

Catchy Title? lol, I cant seem to understand why people think you must have a 580 to run this game smooth on max settings, I run this game at 45-50 fps no problem, except when im recording with fraps, its locked in at 30, the joke here is im still running fraps and still holding good FPS. I'd record this with Xfire but it seems to have some problems when Dx11 is on..........so i resorted to posting breif clips from Fraps, Now ready for the kick? I only have the 768mb model of the 460....... they are in SLI, but im running both Dx11 and high Textures, 1.5mb needed my foot. :)

I will post more brief Vids, no matter the location, no matter the action, my PC stands it ground. :D
Watch in 1080 to enjoy!!!

Good to know I guess - I had been thinking my GTX460 1GB wasn't gonna cut it! Now I just need another one... and a new mobo :D

Why do you lag when you turn? Two 460 would be quite strong probably be as good as a 570 or something, although you still might lag on some bits.

Also do a video in gate keepers the beginning where all the bricked buildings are.

Two 460s have 672 CUDA Cores.

Even if scaling is only at like, 60%, I wouldn't be surprised if it matches/beats a GTX 580, which has 512.

The DX11 seems to take advantage of multi-GPU quite well, Crysis 1 had a mere 20% performance increase when a second card was added, at the most.

Now I just hope ATI can make some better drivers and Crytek can further tweak the DX11.

Because my CPU is juggling all that excess info to the RAM, yes its true you need more Vram, but your system will do fine, the only set backs are like you said, when you turn, it stops, but then comes back into game.

Don't see OP's point... I bet it isn't better then a GTX 590 or SLI 560's, 570's, or 580's. You should of just saved up another $100 and got 1 good card instead of two **** ones. That way if you wanted to upgrade later you could have possibly two 580's instead of your **** SLI 460's, or better yet could of gotten a 590 and gone oh wtf!?!?

Also why no Fraps in your videos. It's **** free. If you are trying to prove a point here you need the basics. Which is Fraps. lol

Fraps is free for 30 sec., look closely, the clips are......................30sec
I commented on using Xfire, but it doesn't seem to work when Dx11 is enabled

Hmm...I've avoided dl'ing the so called hi-res pak thinking I'd have little visual gain versus the performance hit. I too have the 460/768 cards and figured I probably didn't have enough VRAM. What's the rest of your systems specs? If they're comparable to mine, I might have to give the HR pack a go. Currently I'm running all DX11/ultra settings at 1680x1050 with an average 55 FPS (occaisionally dipping below 40 for very brief periods).

I have everything on max with 1440x900 on a gtx560. I run fine. Though Crysis 1 and warhead still give me 18 fps on very high... Stupid drivers...

Crysis 1 runs a million times better for me than this, i get 70fps on crysis 1, compared to 45 on this, Dx11 is truly GPU hungry. and your 560 runs better, because the only difference between the 460 and 560 was a 15% boost in performance, but 30% better Tessellation capabilities.

Right. I think its the drivers. I had a 5770 before. It got better FPS than this card. So it must be the drivers.

GTX 460 SLI REPRESENT! Better and cheaoer than a 580. They OC like crazy and run very cool! Got a couple of 1Gb Gigabyte dual fan ones. My vram is a 900+mb tho :S Never goes to 1gb though. 40-50fps maxed @1080p with no extra cfg minus fov.

coolguy...just in case you would like to record longer vids...for free;

http://downloads.guru3d.com/-MSI-Afterburner-2.2.0-Beta-4-download-2740.html

I use this app (not only for the overclocking/monitoring/profiles) and it records video/audio pretty good. It will expire after a while-like a month or so (unwinder is a bit of a douche and expires all his betas) but new versions are always released

I just got a 2nd 460 literally 2 days ago, plopped it in and was disappointed with the results. FPS in the 20's on ULTRA 1200p. I had to finagle the rendering method as well due to flickering. I'm on AFR2 right now but maybe I've got it wrong. Any tips?

Also: 4GB memory, core 2 duo e8500 @ 3.6

for sure brah, first and for most, your 460;s are fine, your CPU however is just saying, bottleneck,, sadly a dual core is not enough to push two 460;s. no matter the frequency. Flickering on all games or only one? If on all your sli bridge is screwd, if on one game, likley the drivers
