Yeah, I'm surprised that the 'most online at once' record wasn't broken. But I guess we'd need something more than an announcement for that. It'll definitely be broken on release.

Also:

3501 topics - 849 polls

24.25%! That's 3% less than before! :P

yes bethesda, take pride in reducing productivity around the world on these days when someone hints that another coveted update is coming and we waste hours mashing our grubby fingers on the F5 button

Oh yeah, we've been hanging out here for a while, modding TES, gobbling up scraps of Fallout, and waiting and waiting and BAM.

Sheer pandemonium as we all clamor for as much information as we can get and engage in verbal mastvrbation to keep our heads from exploding while basking in the Radiating Epicness  that is Skyrim.

Over 400 rabid lunatics, myself included, watched a thread full of spam desperately waiting for a drawing of a troll last night, and the same thing will happen on thursday. Yet the magazines say Portal 2 is the most eagerly awaited game. In numbers ,yes, but let's face it we're a bunch of hokerrs, happy out but obviously tapped in the head. Wouldn't have it any way.

I have the strangest feeling that by Skyrim's release there will be over 1,000,000 replies and well over 10,000 topics. Although I have a feeling February will have 90% as many people on regularly as January, March would have 95% as February, so on at the same pace then rise again to this level or higher in June. Followed by the same pattern before until September. Then people will be ecstatic and twice as many people as now will be on for a month until its release. If it gets delayed then the month that it is announced will be fuller then it ever was before though.

I wonder how many topics and replies Oblivion had before it peaked right before the release? I think Skyrim will hit the 1.000.000 replies line indeed ;)

I'm eagerly waiting for Portal 2, but the difference is that I already know exactly everything I want to know about that game.

Skyrim is just bit's and pieces, while you know Bethesda isn't afraid of change and taking risks, plus it's a game I'm probably going to play a lot longer.

The Skyrim section is doing to the TES forums what China is doing to the world economy, growing quickly and overtaking others.

I calculated that the Skyrim forum is getting about 3500 posts/day. So, if the rate continues it should overtake the Morrowind section in 23 days and take the no. 1 spot from Oblivion in 68 days.

But Skyrim is not out for another 346 days so it should be at 1.2 million posts by then.

FYI, China passed Japan as the world's 2nd biggest economy last year and is expected to surpass the USA in the year 2077.

As long as I can play it without having to be involved in Steam whatsoever, I will be the happiest mammal on the planet. Ignore how many of us do not want to be forced to use Steam, and sell it Steam exclusive like FONV and I will conclude that my days of being a Beth fan are drawing to a close.

Even so, Oblivion, Fallout3, Morrowind, etc. all great games. They can never Steamify those away from us, right?

Of course if anyone used the search box (top right hand corner, all greyish on a grey background easily missed ) there would be less topics.
Oh, but then we'd argue and complain and entertain and post even more amusing spam until those topics were locked then start thread 2 of everything so the count would be the same, ah well.

It has been going "mad". :) The regulars on here will notice that we (as in the moderators) have been allowing a lot of duplicate topis which on a slower moving forum would be closed and linked to an existing one. That's because of all the enthusiasm, the speed the forum moves - topics are often off the first couple of pages in a couple of hours - and because we are as excited as everyone else. :D

Coincidentally, 2077 is the year of the Great War between China and USA in Fallout. :disguise:

The amount of replies and activity on this board is indeed staggering, especially on the GI magazine thread before the cover release. There will probably be a lot more activity once the first gameplay video goes up, and of course, right before and during the launch.

I might not want to visit the forums after the launch since I would prefer to keep the experience all for myself, but then again I would need to know how the Dunmer sound like...unless they reveal it in a video. :teehee:

I read somewhere that China might surpass USA as early as 2030 :P

Can you imagine how it's going to be closer to game release?

I think it's awesome, they're going to need more bandwidth and disk space. :P

Record was broken (for the new forum anyways) on NV release. Skyrim is going to break that by like 10 fold lol.

I actually read 2080 somewhere but every time I think about China I think about Fallout and 2077 is close enough to 2080 so I put that.

And yes, if the US flushes its economy down the toilet, which is looking like a possibly these days, then China will get the #1 spot by 2030.
