I'm having a discussion with one of my friends and he complins that there isn't any 5mm HP ammo in New Vegas. I haven't found any either so was it not put in? I found the AddItem code but nothing else and the Vendotron and nothing

Oh come on! Someone has to know where to get 5mm Hollow Point ammo if it's in the game at all.

I've yet to see it tbh.
AP is very common and is great for the weapons in general.
Surplus is also common and is almost the same as HP' but wears the condition down more.

Of HP' though I can say I've never seen any, and have never bought any.
If you use the pc the only other option is modding the game.

Best as I can tell, there is none available in the game world. It is in the GECK, though, so you could add it by id #. I think it had the standard hollow point effect of DAM x 1.75. I'll add some by console and tell you how it works. :hubbahubba:

The tl;dr summation: it's not in the game world anywhere, it is in the GECK. You can add it to your inventory via the console or use the GECK to add it to various merchant and loot leveled lists so it appears naturally in the Wasteland over the normal course of playing the game.

5mm HP in a minigun is just the thing to hunt Cazadors with. :brokencomputer:
