Consoles are 64bit?
I need some proof.
are you serious? consoles have been 64 bit sense the Nintendo 64. that is what the '64' meant.
Lol, I doubt the N64 had a real 64 bit CPU and it certainly wouldn't have been able to execute 64 bit code. They were able to hoodwink people back in the day with wild "bit" claims. My video card has a 256 bit memory bus width, but you don't see me going round blagging people that my whole computer is "256 bit!!".
Don't know about the PS2, but the original XBOX had a Pentium 3 in it. That is a 32 bit CPU through and through.
However, the latest consoles, well I suspect that they are 64 bit CPUs. But all the games are no doubt 32 bit, just like every PC game, apart from Crysis (can't think of any other games with 64 bit binaries).
But there really isn't any reason to be using 64-bit, beyond the extra memory it can address. It's only when we start talking about a game using more than 4GB of RAM, that we actually start needing 64-bit. And no game out there uses this much memory. Certainly not Crysis 2 at 1.2GB.
