And up in front it's You're Nuts! In a close second is No, and coming up from the rear is Yes. I wonder how it'll end folk's?

I can tell you this mountain will not be more than about a 2/3 of a mile. Hell, the whole map is only about 5 by 3 miles or so.

What's this about?
Will the highest mountain in the game be 7,000 steps tall?

No this particular thread is about counting said steps of which there are 7001 and a bump we're not too sure of.

I want to have to make myself jump to go up each stair, and in the background have Todd's voice echo through the game as he counts for me.

I am wondering wouldn't it really be 3500 steps going up and 7000 steps going down? I usually take 2 steps at a time going up, so it's only 3500.

Imagine if when you approach the steps all ready for the climb, a cut-scene takes over that shows your character climbing the steps.

I know I won't. Even if it isn't 7,000, there's a little thing called Exaggeration, and everyone does it.

No exaggeration with this though. Todd said there will be 7000.

Wasnt it along the lines of, he asked the dev team if it was possible and without flinching they were like.. ofc there will be 7000 steps. and he said he was sure that now there were 7000 steps and he challenged listeners to count

I'll not only count, but I'll see of one of them shows signs of damage and repair. Who gets that one?

Yea and he said they know some one will count them all, so they'll definitely have 7000. I can't wait to see all the youtube videos with the crazy stuff people are going to do on this area of Skyrim.

I'm don't want to sound mean or anything like that but this topic does not have a value at all. I mean counting steps?

Todd and the team made sure they put in all 7000 steps on the Throat of the World leading up to High Hrothgar, because they knew someone was bound to count them all.

Is there something in the lore about the 418th step?

Just a bit of trivia. In one of the Songs of King Wulfarth, it mentions that he honored the gods by repairing that step after it was damaged in a fight.

Are we sure the steps aren't the size of the ones in the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus?

I won't be counting anyway because you can be sure that my kid will wake up screaming my name when I hit 5713. Actually, I wouldn't do it anyway because I only get a couple of hours of mature viewing a day these days. I won't be spending them counting steps.

EDIT: About step 418, it would be good if they had it look slightly less worn or a slightly different colour than the rest.

The steps won't necessarily start at the base. it could start on the mountain side, or from a path leading to a different mountain. That said, do the steps reach all the way up to the peak?

The greybeards live at the peak, and the steps lead to the greybeards.
So, probably.

I imagine they won't start at the base, yes. There'll probably be a long and interesting path leading up the mountain, and then up the steps.

They will go all the way to High Hrothgar (is it spelled like that ?) Anyway, where the greybeards live....

I think the steps will begin at the final ascent being the thoughest part. Snow storms and all included !

It would be so cool if you couldt acces high Hrothgar all the time due to weather implimentation.

I have a journal where I track my character's progress at level-up. I try to keep it simple and take a few notes for later games. The stats, game days, septims or caps in my pockets :D, the Perk that I chose, that kind of thing. I'm pretty sure the trek of 7,000 steps won't be all at once so I'm hoping there's a tracking number about it in the game menu. I could be wrong though so I'll find a way to count them the first time through depending on what's going on. I can visualize quests in-between sessions of climbing the steps or it could get boring. :)

It's some interesting bit of lore. 7000 steps to reach the Grey Beards. Interesting theory, but I don't want to sit back and count to 7000 when they clearly stated there will be that many and they expect us to check.

I won't be counting. They said there're 7,000 steps so there probably are, but I wouldn't care either way. If there are precisely 7,000 steps....then the Nords were big on precision.

If there aren't 7,000 steps, then they're more like normal humans. We name stuff for the sake of exaggeration allll the time. Millipedes, for example, totally don't have 1,000 legs. But they do have a [censored]load.
