7000 Steps

Drop items on every fiftieth step.

But then NPCs will come and fight over them or offer to return them to you!

I can imagine 140 NPCs following you around and trying to tell you dropped something.

7000 steps is actually not as much as most people imagine it to be ;)

Well that is almost 3 CN towers on top of each other, so yeah, it's quite a lot.
CN towe (Canada, TO) has 2,579 steps and it is 533m tall, 446m to top floor at the skypod.
So you'd be looking at almost 1,5 KM of steps straight up.

7000 steps is massive bro. St. Peter's Basilica in Rome is only 320 steps and at the top are dozens of out of breath tourists lol.

The Empire State building is 1,860 steps, the Burj is 2909 steps (That's this: http://explosivemlm.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/burj-khalifa-07.jpg)

Others will count, and I will check their discussion about whether or not there really are 7,000 steps. If the arguments ends with whether there are 6,995 or 7,004 then I will be satisfied. If most are stuck at 2,000 then I know Bethesda was a bit exaggerating.

I will bet ther will be a 7000 second series of youtube videos that have one step a second, alongside a counter that goes up one with each step, so the result is unarguable.

I like counting to 7000 as much as the next guy. But I think I will be distracted by Skyrim's awesomeness.

I will not count them the first play through. But some day on a rainy day when I'm bored and the internet is down. That is when I shall count the steps... And then I'll go to work.

Well 7000 Steps can be just metaphor in name of place, just like Dragontail Mountains region in Hammerfell not actually real giant dragon tail, its just name.

One word: Breadcrumbs.

I'll count them because I'm OCD that way, but I won't do it all at once. I'm assuming it's not just going to be an inescapable stairwell and there will be things to distract me along the way. So, I'll count a hundred or two hundred, drop an insignificant item to mark it, and go do something else until I decide to continue the climb.

So for all the math wizards out there, how many KM or Miles (for the Americans) would 7000 steps be? How high would it be?

Depends on the size of the foot of the person doing the measuring.

They say there's 7000 and challenged us to count them.

Obviously that means there will be 7000 so I don't have to waste my time.

Unless they're being slippery and they think that by saying that no one will bother to count so they are in the clear! Damn now I must count them!

Regardless of whether they're being slippery or not, someone will count them. Someone will HAVE to count them because if they don't, it will plague their mind for 10 years.

I see no reson to count them, we've been told there's 7000 steps, and I'm quite fine with trusting Todd Howard on that, and even if it turns out that there aren't really 7000, it's not like I really care, as long as the mountain really is the biggest one in the game, 7000, 6000 or 8000 or some other number are all fine with me. Besides, I have no doubt that someone else will count them so I can just read what people online say on the matter.

No. There's 7000 steps leading up to High Hrothgar and all 7000 are in the game.

are you talking about that temple that's on top of the mountain that's supposed to have i guess 7k steps?
if that's the one you're talking about i think i'd like to count them. i usually don't pay too much attention to detail, BUT if they said it's so many steps i will want to hold them accountable to that. i don't want them to LIE! i would i think count the stairs, i would count them one time though. more than once is just crazy like on each play through.
at first i thought u meant counting your first 7k steps, or all your steps lol
