720p or 1080p?

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:05 am

I am playing on a 23inch Samsung LED LCD display (PX2370) with an HDMI connection. I have mostly played at 1080p, but tried 720p for a single match today. I figured that I would try 720p (native resolution) to see if it would improve detection of cloaked individuals. The lighting was slightly "darker," but I'm not sure I could see a difference. Any thoughts?

I'm pretty it'd look the same since it's native resolution is 1080p, it's just upscaled from 720p so I believe the difference would be minuscule. IMO. But I haven't tried both so I can't verify that.

I set my HDMI settings to 720p, as I have a 720p HDTV. I noticed the colors seem more vibrant, as well the detail of the game seems more fine. An example is when I shoot someone and get a hit marker, since I changed my settings from the upscaled 1080p to 720p I can now see the black outlining of the X, where as before it would just mostly be a white X or gray, with no outlining. Again it's not a huge difference, but I'm glad I changed it to the appropriate setting for the pixels in my TV.

The 23 inch monitor isn't optimal, but as I don't watch television I don't own one.
