7AM starting time on sunday vs 7Pm starting time april 3rd

Post » Sat Mar 29, 2014 2:06 am

Anyone think we are getting cheated out of 12 hours? Seems like we have been lied to on that. Maybe they should start the servers at 7PM Saturday that would be 5 actual days then.

It would be great if they started the servers on Saturday. I doubt they do. They could always move the launch time back to a later time so we do get 5 days. I would not want to see them do that though.

well mathematically speaking if it's a matter of 12 hours then we got 4.5 days an when you round a number that ends in .5 you round up, so that's 5 days.

realistically though, I don't feel cheated because I'm not competing with anyone where having 12 hours more to play than a percentage of the subscribers affects me in any way.

That's just me, your experience may differ.

I don't really care, just want Sunday to get here. It's more than four days, less than five. I'm not gonna bicker.

The fact that we are getting Early Access that carries over to the game on Launch is amazing.

But, I agree with you, but not on the "cheated out of 12 hours" part. They should've made it so 5 days early access would start early Saturday or something. That way, everyone gets at least one weekend day to play (If I'm not mistaken on time conversions). The time conversions do screw this up, though.

Although, the servers are technically North America and Europe, so it's not their fault if Early Access starts in the middle of the night for some players. Therefore, they should allow people to start playing on Saturday at 7PM.

Exactly.

I didn't preorder because I wanted the extra time. I didn't even preorder for the ability to pick my race's faction. I preordered because I was excited to get the game!

It doesn't cost anything extra to preorder (IE costs the same if you get it now or after launch). The bonuses are just gravy.

And what crystal ball told you that they planned for a Sunday launch and didn't schedule people to handle it? You assume a lot while having no basis for that reasoning.

Not everyone has the same workdays. It only makes sense if you tell yourself it makes sense. I have no way to know either but what makes sense to me is that a company having a launch on a Sunday will have sufficient staff to handle it. And if you're speaking from a religious standpoint of Sunday being the sabbath, I'm reasonably confident God has early access and will be logging in on Sunday.

Do you think after years and years of developing this behemoth of a game the guys responsible and capable will not be there, right where they can fix stuff should it blow up, because it’s a Sunday…

Couple other threads on this. It is bacause it launches globally on the 4th. And the planet has an international date line.

Look at it as it is launching in NA twelve hours earlier to accommodate this. Or else the ppl in other parts of world could start before ppl in NA.

I think my head just exploded.... it doesn't matter what time it is, if they open the servers then everyone logs in at the same time... the time on the clock where you live is irrelevant.

A small point some may not know...

Here in North America those who adopt Daylight Savings Time, did so about 2 weeks ago...

In the UK (and I assume Europe) they will move to Daylight Savings Time this coming at 2am local time Sunday (30th March) this may be why the game is early access Sunday and not Saturday.

They're probably starting on a Sunday to give their Customer Service team the opportunity to have a weekend before the [censored] hits the fan. I've got no doubt everyone at Zenimax and Bethesda who's job is related to the game have been busting tail this past week taking care of last minute things, double/triple checks, and all that. Most of them have probably been given today and tomorrow off to go home, relax, SLEEP, and get prepared for the onslaught on Sunday.

As far as the time/dateline thing goes; 7am Eastern US on Sunday is 8pm on Sunday Tokyo time so our friends in Oceania and Aus/NZ aren't going to be able to play until relatively late on Sun night. :(

I feel a little cheated. It feels like false advertising to me.

*Buy now and get 5 DAYS early access!!!*

*Oh by the way, we're gonna change that to 4.5, thanks for your money*

Doesn't seem right ethically or legally...
