Has anyone found the 12.7mm pistol and/or the 12.7mm submachine gun? I've got ammo and silencer's but I can't find the guns

12.7mm Pistol is found on CL hit teams. Ok, but I still like the 10mm pistol with all mods and firing JHP ammo better.

12.7mm SMG can be bought from the BOS at high levels after getting full trade access. A few can be found at "The Fort" on some Legion troops. Damn nice weapon that can tear apart most enemies in the game.

Ammo for both guns. Don't turn in Contreras. He's sitting on a 1500+ round stockpile of 12.7mm rounds. Take the long path for "This Machine".

FOR THE SUB:
* Bloodborne Cave - Behind a Very Hard locked gate in a box along with over 7000 caps. There is a key to the gate lying by the campfire in the back of the cave (be wary of the tripwire behind the gate).
* Can be bought from Knight Torres in the Hidden Valley Bunker.
* Can be obtained from Legion soldiers at The Fort. The only way to get there is to take the raft at Cottonwood Cove to the South East. This travel by barge is achieved when the Courier is prompted to meet with Caesar and given the Mark of Caesar, which allows safe passage through Legion territory.
* At higher levels, this can be bought from various weapon merchants.
* Great Khans have been observed having the weapon on them in relatively low condition at higher levels.

FOR THE PISTOL:
* Fiends, Great Khans and Legionary Assassins are known to sometimes wield 12.7mm weapons. Best place to find Great Khans wielding them is in Red Rock Canyon to the west of Vault 3 and Camp McCarran.
* If you don't mind killing NCR, they can be found on NCR Troopers at Hoover Dam (Before the Final battle) even at low levels (tested on level 5 on xbox).
* During the final assault on Hoover Dam, NCR Troopers can be seen to wield the weapon quite frequently.
* It can also found in Bloodborne Cave on the ground in the room with the ledge.
* It can sometimes be bought from Knight Torres in Brotherhood of Steel hideout in Hidden Valley.
* It can be bought at the Gun Runners in the later levels.
* It is equipped by Moore at Hoover Dam

The subgun flavor is very short ranged due to the wide spread. But the low AP cost, the high damage per bullet, and the burst fire, makes it a decidedly deadly CQB weapon. Use it like a shotgun.

I know, which is why I use a shotgun up close. The riot gun destroys it up close.

Riot do 9.57*7 damage per shot, while 12.7mmSMG does 36; IIRC the SMG have 3 times the ROF, thus makes it better, but more expensive and lack of versatility.

If it had a bigger magazine I'd put more stock in it. That's the main thing that I don't like.

So, while it might fire quicker, you'll be taking lots of breaks to reload. Which kinda negates the faster firing rate as a positive.

What is the difference between 12.7mm and .50 caliber? (One inch is 25.4mm.)

Nothing, it's just that that is only the diameter of the bullet. The casing (the rest of a round) is what's different.

http://www.info4guns.com/graphics/Rifle_cartridge_comparison.jpg is a .50 BMG round on the far left, what the .50 MG in-game is based on.

http://twohometowns.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/cartridge-comparison1.jpg is a .50 AE round on the far left, it's roughly what the 12.7mm would be comparable too.

While both bullets are the same size around, the actual rounds are very different.
