Not when it's revolving around 8. It's bull man. Look at the title. It's MySpace-chic. It's a fake. A fluke. Not fun, not inquiring, not trippy, nada.

Also, there was no Alyeidic in there, that was definitely Old Ehlnofex. ALTDADOON, DOOM! LKHAN AE PADHOME ANA GHRUTUK, and such. Of course, there's so little of Ehlnofex for us to go off of, it's really anyone's guess. Still, all in all, like I said WAY before (well, earlier today :P), even I can do better than this.

I find it amusing how seriously you are all taking this. There are those that believe, and those that are ready to burn him at the stake for Blasphemy. Is it not enough that Something Is Happening, even if that something is fake?

I was getting bored. :P

No, I just don't like how some people put a lot of hard [censored] work into writing a good lore piece, only to get it cast aside like an old piece of ass, while someone makes a new account, shows up a half-assed paragraph or two, misses a deadline half-accidentally, and suddenly gets all this attention.

Because of what this said, which is essentially nothing.

...What is there to believe??? He basically just said a kalpa ended and another started. And he said this AFTER 8/8/08.

@Putty: Your name makes me smile, by the way. I don't know why.

My first thought was that I was being molested by an Internet predator and should call mommy; then I realized just how much my assumed name does sound like a six fetish and giggled into my sleeve.

So...um....is this thread done yet?

EDIT: OK, maybe I'm being too harsh on the guy. His Ayleid was good OK in the last two pieces, and I like the color code (for lack of a better phrase) in this one. I just think that, for a year's worth of anticipation, this would've been a bit more...I dunno...comprehensive.

But then, I'm being picky, as I have yet to try to make anything in a fictional language and, therefore, should not criticize. Good work, for what it's worth. :D

of course during 8/8/08 the last one was being destroyed. now another one is made. think about it like 12/21/2012 when the fourth cycle of the myans end. this is just like that. during that day the world is supose to be destroyed to make way for the next world. same thing with this 8/8/08.

Hey, I just remebered something I did with all the eights! (but in an appropriate location)
General Mills Cereal runs mocking Cheerios commercial, claiming that their heart-healthy breakfast food is beneficial regardless of whether or not you actually have a heart. They foolishly reveal their address in Battle Creek, Michigan, and chant "eighteighteighteighteighteighteightoldmaryeight!"

WWPD?

Well to me, something like like a kalpa being ended--with time essentially "skipping," in a sense--I'd expect that it wouldn't really make a difference.

I glanced at that WWPD a long time ago...and that [censored] confused the hell outta me, lol. I kinda didn't get it, thought i literally looked at it for like 30 seconds.

This thread is one step away from http://www.errant-notions.net/Images/Blizzcon/Paladin.jpg or http://www.allslash.org/links/potter.html.

In any case, I ain't here to read [censored] pastiche, y'know.

Albides: I would tend to expect, be prepared for, and in some isolated cases, even participate in random outbreaks of sheer social maladjustment on a forum devoted to discussing the intricacies of what is in essence an extremely convoluted fairy tale. :twirl: You gotta admit though, who doesn't wanna be a Night Elf Mohawk?

Also, I give up on Mr. Gift as well, partly because it's in to be a skeptic these days and partly because, honestly, he really DIDN'T say anything here. If he posts again some time within the next 7 milennia and announces ES5 or something, I'll be happy (unless it's an ARG). But being cryptic and portentous and then telling us that, basically, the world ended, but it's cool because it started again... What the frell kinda point does that serve (unless it's a retcon, which since it's probably not a dev...)? I got all worked up for this?

But god, I hope he announces ES5. C'mon Bethesda, you couldn't ALL have been working on Fallout 3. *crosses fingers* However, why would Bethesda be late for E3 if they were going to announce it now...? Alright, now I'm basically just talking to myself.

Maladjustment is fine. It's the method. Sloppy, misspelled pastiche which tells me that this thing isn't worth the bytes it's stored on. When something is done a first time, it's novelty. When it's done a first time very well, it's genius. But when that's imitated terribly, then it's rubbish hack-work. This is probably why no one else cares either and they're giving the Sepred chap a hard time. And it's why you should look elsewhere for you announcement.

Let's talk about the Olympics instead. What a fabulous opening ceremony, even if too rigid, too precise, in the manner of a military parade. But what a gorgeous spectacle all the same.

I honestly felt those dancers (or whatever the hell they were) around the center of the track were rather...useless. They basically stood around and clapped or some [censored]. I don't know if too many people feel the same way though.

The opening ceremony was pretty cool. I kinda liked watching the different cultures and their outfits walk about, though when smaller countries came out, it became somewhat lackluster to me, I hate to say. It was one country's outfit in particular that I really liked, but I can't remember which one it was; they were wearing fedoras, if I recall correctly, but more than one country was wearing fedoras, though.... Maybe I just like fedoras...

And this is an attempt to make this thread ACTUALLY worthwhile. Rather talk about the Olympics than the BS that transpired here.

You're talking about the human fence that kept in the athletes, I think. Beats soldiers or people in tracksuits, I guess. And it's not like China doesn't have people to spare for menial tasks like that. Besides, they were kind of cute.

My favourite part of the ceremony was probably the interpretive dance techniques painting a picture on the great piece of paper while pictures of sea voyages scrolled on the floor on which it lay. It was a subtle, genuinely artistic piece that, unlike much of the rest of the ceremony, didn't rely on sheer mass effect of people and logistics. And then when the athletes' walked through ink to leave their footprints on the same piece of paper... that was a nice touch.

I'd say I'm trying to take him seriously. If I wasn't ticked off about the potentiality of this foreshadowing a complete retcon of lore in ES5, that would mean I'm NOT taking him seriously. Then again, it might not be a retcon. So I guess I could be taking him seriously then, too... Wait... no, scratch all that, I'm teetering on the thin, thin line between taking him seriously and not giving a flying Fargoth. EDIT: Tarhiel would've been a better candidate for that, wouldn't he?

Stuff is retconned in every subsequent TES game.

Is this thread actually going anywhere?

You have three posts from now to make your case to keep this thread open, or it gets locked for spam.

It is said the number is the number of birds that can nest in an ancient tibrol tree, less three grams of honest work, but Vivec in his later years found a better one and so gave this secret to his people.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

ummmm - 8/8/8 ... as in the real world?

In the real world 8 is lucky - One and a half billion + chinese say so - doomsayers are outvoted.

One kalpas bad luck is another kalpas good luck = good luck rules :)

... and to get onto what is really inportant you gotta agree with princess_stomper - whatever she was saying :D

Hard to make sensible comments about a thread that no one claims real understanding of = seems these responses are best guesses. It could be that this guy has something to say - but it may require several more threads before a final prognosis is possible. Riddles and such are there for the puzzling at - is the puzzling more or less important than the answer if there is one? But does it matter so long as everyone is having fun with this?
