Yeah...this is killing me. A robotic hand would be nice at this point or the ability to run a macro. I only got it to drop to 88MB from 92MB in the first re-run. I really don't know what the heck is up with this thing. Either way, Bethesda asked for the files from the post last night. So, they can figure it out. I'll keep working the video. There are going to be some cuts and pauses though, a man has to eat.

as much as i dont believe in bethesda its a good thing they keep asking your for your save as you carry on it may really shed some light onto what actually is going wrong and what triggeres is as by now i think youd have triggered nearly every bug you can

Have you thought about getting a degree in Games Testing?

Interesting... maybe it only works on stack items? (Aka items with more than five in?) otherwise maybe I'm doing something wrong o_o.

Kundalini please make a video! :whistling:

So, I dumped all my gems and soul gems for the video. The game only dropped from 92MB from 88MB. This was weird since last time I dropped them it went from 92MB to 85MB. So, I tried something I had done before (thinking maybe there was a correlation to the time it took me to do the drop proceedure and not the dropping itself). I left it sitting all night, my character just standing there in the house, controller plugged in and power saving stuff turned off. Doing this before, I got a magic 5MB added to my file. Based on previous experience, the game size should have gone up. However, this time it went from 92MB to 65MB!!!!!!!! Just when I thought I had it all figured out. :bonk:

Would that be a BS, MS (M=More), or a PhD (Piled Higher and Deeper)?

LOL. This...is interesting. Although the current theory that the gems are being indexed improperly hasn't been debunked this doesn't help it. It could however be that certain things have managed to clear themselves in the time you haven't been visiting them?

ROFL. Someone had to drop that line didn't they XD

LMFAO

A BSc is always a good place to start, but testing looks like it might be in your nature XD It pays reasonably well but the job security is useless. You're the first one to get fired...well...after HR anyway XD

Yeah, I think that theory just died horribly. Now on to new theories I guess. It's great just shooting in the dark. It is like trying to explain why a car is making a funny sound, but not being allowed to look under the hood or run diagnostics, and being deaf and blind. I have lots of errands to do, so I am just leaving it to see if more MBs fall off. I figure it should plateau at some point, and then I will revisit the stacked items/index theory and see if it still works.

Funny enough though, while I have been updating all of my data (14 pages of documentation) in preparation to send off the new files to Bethesda, my Dualshock controller rumbles occasionally for no apparent reason. So something is happening.

Oh, and my character has been transparent since this entire charade began.

Just standing idle in my Whiterun home...file size has now dropped to 54MB!!!! What the fruit cocktail is going on?

It will be interesting to test what happens with the equivalent amount of sleep/wait cycles to whatever time has passed in game standing idle.

So your saying we should probably try to just leave our games on for like 4-8 hours straight and just have our character stand there? And then maybe our save files will drastically shrink... Are you saving during this time?

We really appreciate the feedback from our Steam Beta. We anticipate the 1.4 update going live next week for all on the PC and being sent to the console manufacturers. The Creation Kit won’t be far behind.

Using saves we’ve collected from the community, we’re really seeing some great results with the 1.4 update. Thanks to everyone!

...I suspect, one save, one man and whole desire to break stuff eh Kundalini? (Quoted from the Administrator)

Anyway ...your character disappeared? Invisibility spell perhaps?

Crazy [censored], whatever was bloating your file seems to have stopped but that doesn't explain why it's shrinking. Is it still performing like a pig?

You expect him to notice dramatically anywhere before 25mb? O.o;

Still Kundalini can you see your character yet XD

Surely a 48 KG pig can run faster than a 92 KG pig? lol

That is what I am doing. I am not sure how much you will see. My file kinda lost its mind, so what I see is dramatic. Now if you have a 16 to 20MB file, you might only see a few MB. Then again, I seem to be the exception, not the rule. It may do nothing. Back in my other post that started out at 37MB, doing exactly what I am doing now added 5 MB. I have to admit, I don't know what is happening, but I am happy with the results.

I have been saving during the process mainly to see if I am still dropping MB's. I figure at some point it should stop.

I haven't gone out and done anything yet, the file is still shrinking. However, if you saw the video with the rediculous save time, the save is significantly faster now.

Still transparent. Looked in Active Effects...nothing related to being invisable, or in this case just predator like transparency.
