ugh... I am disliking this "new age" of gaming.

Skyrim MADE me create a Steam account, just to play their game that I have a physical disc for.

Kingdoms of Amular MADE me install Origins in order to play their game that I have the physical disc for.

I thought I'd try out the Archeage beta last weekend. I went to Trion and made an account. They want to MAKE me install their own "Glyph" software in order to play. Rift (also by Trion) was out of the question.

Why, oh why, am I being FORCED to download all this extra software that has only ONE purpose: marketing?

I have already received marketing e-mails from Trion. Tried to unsubscribe and the hoops they are making me jump through is outlandish. JUST TO UNSUBSCRIBE! Looks like I'll be deleting a lot of e-mails from them from now on as I cannot even get to support without their hoop jumping

Steam I can not play "online" anymore for when I do, I have page after page (3-5) of "Buy This Game! PLEASE!" ads.

I am NOT going to add your extra marketing software JUST TO PLAY YOUR GAMES ANYMORE!

This trend is getting outlandish. I may end up giving up gaming all together if this crap does not stop. Now.

Not really much to say except that as long as enough people are willing to fork over their money to play in spite of all the hoop jumping they're forced into, this trend will continue.
