Abandoned Shack deleted all my items stored in the chest.

On the console. Just a warning for those using it as storage. One question though, my thieves guild armor was in there..do I need it to finish the questline? I'm on Darkness Returns (return a certain item to the Twilight Sepulcher)

I don't remember you need any thief gear to complete that quest. In fact I stored my thief gear as soon as I got it. Had no problem with any quests.

Thanks :) I remember having an optional objective to turn in a piece of giver to Tonilia but it doesn't matter I guess.

You need it to become
Spoiler
Guild Master
but I think you can complete the main quest line without it. Also, general tip: NEVER use random containers you fin laying around to store loot, they reset every few in game days. There are only certain containers that don't do this, most of which, are in houses that you can buy.

Quick, possibly silly question.

Is every container in your house safe to store? I know the chests are, but was just unsure of the drawers and wardrobes.

Yup, every container inside a house you buy is safe to store items in.

I knew that, I also advise most of the people I know not to do that..was just told Abandoned Shack served as a safehouse.

I wouldn't say that. Sometimes, random little ones like sacks and such have been known to bug out and reset. I'd stick to chests, closets, things like that.

I'll be porting my Oblivion Containers mod to Skyrim, which makes all containers in-game "safe" - items won't be removed when the cell resets unless no player items are in the container.

Make one that is universal too... Same container in each house. (Same ID), so we can get our junk no matter which house we visit. I am lazy like that. lol.

I think he was saying... He purchased the house... then stored items in a chest... then he upgraded with house-upgrades... the upgrade removed the old chest, and replaced it with a new chest... (However, it didn't place his contents from the old chest, into the new chest, once he purchased the upgrade to the house. EG, bad planning on programming the house-upgrades, a BUG.)

Storage is what houses are for. It even says in one of the load screens to not use boxes you don't own
