Be able to actually use the small rowboats?

dotted around the rivers/lakes?

It always bugged me in oblivion not being able to do this.

combined with fishing, it would make for excellent roleplaying.

If you look at the map of Tamriel, you'll find no significant waterbody in Skyrim besides the sea shore up north. So row boats wouldn't be present in the game at all.

I'm sure they'll change the geography to add some lakes, hopefully some cool fjords as well...

Never mind the fishing, or the whale-spearing, or the serpent slaying...oh, wait. Mind all of those things.

For realz tho, travel on the water (besides water walking) is important for two thing. 1) It's awesome, and makes more sense then swimming everywhere, especially in armor. 2) It shows that Bethesda is actually willing to add new content and improve their games.

Seriously, Two Worlds 2 has this. Are you better than Two Worlds 2, Bethesda? Are you? ARE YOU!?

If somebody says: "omg waste of development time" I will explode. If everybody who said that had their way, the game would consist of the MQ and nothing else.

I think that's just an oversight on Bethesda's part. If you look at a map of Tamriel, the only real rivers come off of the inlet that leads to Cyrodiil from the ocean. Frankly, that's just not realistic geography.

There's bound to be streams, rivers, and lakes, and even without them, there is that huge coastline, with several important cities on it, which is enough to justify boat travel.

Blame it on bad cartographers.

Is it possible to make boats skim across the water surface...to simulate actual travel?

Damn that Natalie Dravarol!

I would love to row rowboats, not only that, but I would also like ferries going up rivers so instead of walking from Dawnstar to Rifton, you'd be able to go by boat. But it wouldn't be like Fast Travel, you'd actually see & feel the boat going by, and you'd be able to go on little quests and whatnot.

What is everyone's obsession over these boats? Are they really that appealing? I mean you would think that rowing a little boat around is the greatest thing ever with all these threads about boats.

It's not just boats. We have threads asking for pretty much everything. I think people are getting their expectations a bit too high.

Meh, I don't really care. I just think it'd be a wonderful addition to the game.

'Yes' to the first question, and 'perhaps it is' in response to the statement. ;)
But yes, they do have a few important cities on the coast, so it's not impossible that they might implement usable boats in the game. Although personally I think it's unlikely.

Yes to boats, yes to fishing, yes to underwater life, yes to sea robbers, yes to everything that adds significantly to a living world.

Must say Two worlds 2 looks rather spiffy. Might have to try it when it comes out here.

Hmm, I thought it looked a bit too 3rd person'ish, and thus, unplayable (for me).
Btw, since they have boats... Do they also have fast travel?

I like actual ships more... not a fan of small boats, big fan of ships ^^.. But any kind of vehicle system would allow modders to do real working versions of whatever is missing
