Be able to grow crops?

This kind of ties into the economy thread. It would make more sense to grow crops if your character needed money to eat and so forth.

And what people are forgetting is that using farm tools could increase your skill with weapons. There was a book in MW called The Axe Man about an assassin who was raised as a slave or servant, and basically after using a hoe, mopping the floor, and threshing wheat he was really good at swinging axes into people's faces, especially his master.

Plus, anyone play Minecraft? You need food to live, and you can't buy it. You can hunt but only so many creatures spawn. Plus, there's zombies at night.

Nah, I'd only mage it and the labor as income. No interest what so ever.

However, if'n I can chop trees, and drag them, stack them, etc a la a pillow fort...that' would be great!

While I would really enjoy this kind of feature, I think it's probably better suited as a mod than a game feature. I think the devs should stick to the major game features and developing a good and working world for us to play in, that way these other minor features can be modded in effectively. I'm not sure Skyrim is really the place for farming also.

Except that two thirds of players can't use mods.

Now I am a person who has a great interest in plants, but I don't want farming in Skyrim.
I liked being able to gather ingredients (which randomly respawned) for potions in previous TES games, but I don't want to farm.
If I have the urge to muck about in the dirt, it will be out in the garden, or in the greenhouse.
Pixellated earth and digital crops just can't compare to a handfull of warm, moist earth I have just nestled seeds in.
Virtual farming, IMO, would waste precious game resources,

if you dont want to try your hand at farming than just dont farm.. easy as that. in oblivion i had no desire to join the fighters guild. does that mean the fighters guild should not have been implemented? If you want the same old same old then dont pick up skyrim because it will have to many new things in it that you wont want to do.

a little bit of virtual gardening is exactly what skyrim needs. elderscrolls have always been about choice.. now we have the choice to garden. im 100% sure it will be a popular addition to the game. im looking forward to garden

Hela, this idea's dank. It should really happen. I'd love to be able to plant seeds, build a log cabin and have survival elements involved. And after you built your house you'd have that pleasurable feeling of warmth inside with a fire place and outside you'd hear the howling brutality but you'd be hela safe. I also like the peaceful aspects it would bring to the game to just be planting seeds. And you should be able to build your log cabin anywhere. I'd build it on the top of a mountain, the most brutal blowing snow and wind there, yet inside it would be dank.

As long as I can own a house with a little alchemical garden like Frost Spire I would be content.

Choosing which ingredients to plant would be very nice. Watering them? I'll hire a servant.

Yes exactly! Every piece of property you can buy should have some sort of balcony or back yard to plant in. Some may be bigger, some small maybe. i think it would be really cool to grow illegal crops. Theres likely nothing in the lore that talks about illegal plants but if there was it would be very cool. growing a crop of dope in skyrim would be awesome!!

And servants are actually a sweet idea. id hire me an argonian biitch and make her dig irrigation trenches.. haha i only wish. i hope bethesda puts a bit of depth into gardening personaly..

No but it is a roleplaying game, which means if you don't want to fight you don't have to, skip the dragons! I mean why not live with your character in a cottage, farming or hunting/fishing for food? Buy some goats and create milk/cheese which you can sell at the market.

And then at the end of the day you get slayed by robbers on your way home. (just because you choose not to fight)

Thats what i call roleplaying...

No, that's what you call Sims: Fantasy

I am so baffled by the fact that there are people who exist in this world that want to play a videogame where you're some normal farmer who just plants seeds and milks cows and takes his crops to town and sells them and then goes home and then splits some wood for his fireplace so he can sit down at night and read The Lusty Argonian Maid by the fire.

Edit: Last bit of that was just me being an ass. So if you read it and were offended, call me an ass.

I like Harvest Moon, so I'm not completely opposed to this idea. However, I do not think it's required at all in any way whatsoever.
