Be able to see sword sheath and bow at the same time!

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 7:43 pm

Please someone make a mod where I can see the sword/sheath while still seeing my bow. I hate how when I switch over to sword my bow disappears. I would like to see all gear at the same time.

I want to see something like this very badly. But I don't think such a mod would be as easy as it sounds. For instance, which bow is "your" bow? The one you last used? Maybe. The one you have in your favorites? Maybe. But unless the script would be able to check for those things, there would be no way to distinguish between that bow or the 12 other ones you've looted that are sitting in your inventory.

Bottom line, it seems to me that the SKSE would have to allow for the functionality to do this and check for these things, as I doubt the vanilla CK would. If I'm wrong, I'm happy to be corrected as I'd like to see a mod like you propose ASAP.

Forget this, you can't even see your sheath if you equip something on the left.

I'd love to see all my equipment on my guy, it would be amazing. I'd love the shield to go on his back when its not on his hand, i'd love the bow to show at the same time as his sword. I'm someone who tries to carry realistic things based on space rather than weight, so it would be great to have to decide if i have a bow or two handed weapon on my back because putting both at the same time would cause horrible clipping issues. Then I could store the other weapon on my horse and take it when I need it, it would be fantastic. Not mention, Knife on boot please :)

First of all... we need a mod that shows -two- scabbards/blades when they are sheathed, rather than just one.

After that's done, we need a mod that, at least in appearance, doesn't override the blades you've got equipped when a bow is selected.

It already auto-equips your previously selected blades if you unequip the bow, that system could be kept, but all you'd need to do is keep the appearance of all that is currently equipped.

This is one of my most wanted mods. For now though, I do the "resurrect trick."

Equip a weapon, open the console, click on your character, and type in "resurrect 1"

Then equip a new weapon, and do the same.

Rinse, repeat. (but don't resurrect yourself after equipping your final weapon)

However, you can only use the last weapon you equipped, and the rest are just for show (so if you wanted to switch weapons, everything would unequipped and you'll have to redo all this again). Looks cool though.

Here's a few shots of one of my characters decked out in all his gear:

The benefit Skyrim has for a mod like this is the ability to favorite items that you could not do in Oblivion. For example, there might be a way to have the weapons display on your body if you have them favorited (so that way any loot weapons do not show up). The problem is that you might have a couple of the same weapon types favorited (especially if you are a duel wielding player) and thus they would share the same slot.

For dual wielding, the sheathed weapon meshes would have to be altered. Daggers and swords go in slightly different spots on the waist, as seen in my above pic. If you dual wield the same weapon (say, a sword), one can just take the dagger spot or vice versa. Probably take Script Dragon and/or SKSE for this to even function properly.

Orrrrrr....like the guy who released the http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6253 (again, in my above pics on my guy's back), a fake meshed "dummy" sword/scabbard can sit next to the equipped sword. That way, it shows the appearance of two weapons equipped without actually having them both equipped (though in the case of dual wielding, they'd both be equipped), and when you unsheath them, they both get unsheathed....etc..

Okay, hopefully we can get a 2 weapon mod for dual wielders when CK comes. As for the other thing, all weapons showing, its definately possible. We have to force the game to automatically do that trick that ElvenChaos is doing, should be possible, maybe even before the CK.

Edit: Hopefully it can be done with all weapons tagged as favourites, so we can choose what weapons show by favouriting them.

Oh and don't forget about the shield going on your back when you switch to a 2 handed or dual wield fighting stance. With the " resurrect 1 " trick and the favorite menu this has to be something that is achievable.

This gives me a lot of hope that it would be possible to show dual wielding, however as you noted in yor follow up post, different weapon types appear in different places, it would be easiest to show dual weapons sheathed in you had say 1 sword and 1 axe but not as easy if you had 2 swords.

It doesn't even show one if the weapon is on your left

I would assume this partially depends on how many equip slots a character will have. For all we know there will be extras so that seperate armor pieces can be made
