I'm using a game pad and having a hard time even staying on target and get killed mostly by being seen while cloaked I dont get that i thought the whole purpose was to be invisible while cloaked how can eveyone see me when i'm cloaked!!! And yes i'm ttoaly a newb to pc gaming. any help would be great.

I think the console versions have some level of autoaim. In the PC version aiming is unforgiving. You are going to have to take up mouse and WASD if you want to play against PC Gamers. It is a matter of you bringing a feather to a bazooka fight.

edit: I sometimes use a gamepad with the singleplayer mode, so I can lean back. works sweet enough because the AI is as dull as a brick so my impaired aiming and turning doesnt matter so much in SP. Against 16 yo kids with WASD in MP however, I do not stand a chance. Neither do you.

edit 2: Crysis 2 MP has a steep leaning courve compared to other games. And the upgrade system is so stupid it boggles the mind. New players not only have to combat maps they dont know, gameplay they are not used to, they have to fight against players who have better gear and armor. That doesnt help you either and it is stupid move. RPG elements doesnt need to be mixed in with every single game out there. No really!

Don't listen to the guy with a low ratio, use arrow keys. They will provide you the superiority you seek.

Same to me, bud. Sometimes I get a freakout from this game, but obviously, the removal of autoaim with controller is what makes you "bad". Every console game has autoaim in it: CoD, Halo and Crysis 2 of course, but in the PC Version it got removed. I really helps you if you try to use keyboard and mouse. My aim was like garbage at the beginning, but the longer you play, the better you aim.

Then there's the movement. Don't always run around in Cloak. It does not only drain your energy too much, it also weakens you totally. Only turn it on in critical situations, or when you have to switch positions. PC users sit in front of the monitor, so they see cloaked persons way more often. Don't rely on cloak.

Look for movement trails to run around the map faster, Skyline has multiple ones. I found about 5 or 6 shortcuts, when trying to get somewhere, and appearently I'm the only one using them. ;) So don't use the stairs, jump onto it!

If all this doesn't help you, try to use Pointfire Enhancement with a Feline or SCARAB (if you got them) and pwn them all away, it is really a good combination. Just don't use ADS when trying this out.

And ALWAYS, really ALWAYS switch to Armor mode before starting the fire. That sets your survivabilty up about 50%.

hmm...this strikes me as rather odd. From your profile:

Kills: 7

Deaths: 141

Time played: 1:57:38

While the gamepad is certainly a big part of your problem, it would appear that you have been playing against a load of aimbots. Because 147 deaths in a couple of hours sounds like a lot.

huh? in what world? so i have to reach over and find the keys for grenade and melee?

thats why most, except for Russian Rambos chose WASD

The same here. I as 25 hours in or so before my K/D ratio started to feel like I was other than a lamb brought to its slaughter.

Otherwise. All good tips from this guy.

After just over 12 hours of online play ... I've been killed 831 times so your record is not that bad. I'm an older PC player who was a Quake3 player so I know my way around a kb. I can't get my head around why I'm killed off. Maybe it's cuz it's a COD war thing.

Hehe Quake and UT player here as well. Well I will give you a tip that will be hard to remove from your set of spinal reactions. NEVER....EVER....JUMP ..:EVER!!! for any other reason that reaching for a ledge or something.
You have to play this game pretty much opposite to quake in everything. Also...I find the controls to be much less precise/responsive, that took some getting used to Ill tell you...

Actually, power jumping can give you an edge in firefights if you're fast enough to swing to him, tap right click and shoot (which every quake player must be able to do) since it throws him off his aiming. What you SHOULDN'T do is power jump when the guy is engaging you from 40m away.

New players not only have to combat maps they dont know, gameplay they are not used to, they have to fight against players who have better gear and armor.
new players should stick to "Recruit" servers which only players less than lvl 10 can join.
you can find them easily using the "server type" field in the filter.

You're an idiot if you don't realize it's nearly the same thing. Except of course, WASD has more keys in its vicinity on the keyboard. So.. Don't give false information. Not everyone has banana **** fingers.

I'm a retard. Thank you for telling me that I completely missed the obvious. I never noticed

I have a near 100% kill ratio on jumpers. And I never get away with it myself either. yeah, if people are using melee, then sometimes it seems to do the trick.

Advice: Play single player using keyboard-mouse, they give you some very useful tutorial on using the suit and managing energy. maybe you'll learn something.

your problem is that you are using a gamepad. there are videos out there (cant remember were) of PRO 360 users playing call of duty 4 vs VERY noob PC players and the noob pc players kicked the PRO 360 users ass. Mouse and keyboard are FAR more precise than a gamepad.

Don't give up... eventually you will get the hang of it. When I first switched from console type games to PC games in the mid 1990's, it was hard as hell for me too. I made the mistake of trying to play "multi-player" PC games right off the bat, and man did I get owned. It made me so mad and frustrated that I started "team-killing" my teammates, cause they were the only EASY kills I could get, lol?

So.. I started playing single-player, basically just to "get the feel" of the PC game and having to go from a console controller to a mouse and keyboard. Even though single-player action is alot different than multi, it still helps in getting the feel of the controlling options and mapped keys. The more you play, the more used to it you get. Multi is alot more "fast paced" than single, but just be patient, learn your key layout and it will come to you. Once you get that pretty much down, start off with "low ranked" MP servers, don't jump into a game with mid to high ranked players and expect to do good, though that too helps you learn.

Some people learn quick, others not so quick. Everyone is different too, some people can randomly play different games throughout the day and it not affect them what so ever, others are like me.. playing Counter-Strike:Source for 2 hrs, then jumping into Crysis 2 totally screws me up and it takes me a few minutes to get used to Crysis 2 again. Heck, even play Crysis 2 (Classic Mode) then going back to Standard Mode messes me up, next thing I know I forget to cloak/armor up, etc..

Try different positioning.

Try going behind people, not from the side. :)
