House was alive before the war, so that leaves three options.
Computer
Ghoul
Or human in one of those sleep chairs interacting through a computer. Kind of like our friend from the FO:3 main quest.

I also think he may be the one character you can't kill.

I am expecting that in the end he is going to be an actual person and you can meet him face to face after you gain his trust. I can also imagine him saying something like 'Why are you looking at me like that? What? Do you think I am going to be a computer or a brain in a jar?'

If House was alive before the war, and you finally get to meet him, I think he's is either:

1) In advanced stages of Ghoulification.
2) A human, alive, but with masses of tubes and wires and lifesupport trailing off him, so he is bedbound and cannot move. Very old, frail, skeletal
3) A human who was cryogenically frozen, like Mr Disney, but had a neural connector into his brain so he could still run his empire.

Whatever the case, the House always wins. He won't send an army after you, but you might wake up with a brahmin head in your bed. capiche?

----

apologies if they've already been suggested, I just woke up and I'm not reading threads without coffee first :bonk:

"So are we cool courier?" "Oh yeah, sure, dont worry about it."

*The following morning Benny wakes up with thread all over his hand, pulls blanket off to reveal his checkered jacket cut up and lying at the foot of his bed*

"Nooooooo!!!" he screams "that jacket cost me 10,0000,0000 caps! I am ruined!!"

*videoscreen flickers to life with a grinning Mr House* "Now now Benny, you know the price for betraying me..."

"But boss, did it have to be the jacket? Couldn't you have taken my sister or something?"

*Mr House sighs* "... just can't get the staff these days. Bob! Get that Courier person to come see me"

ooo this is getting all fanficcy :foodndrink:

GUYS IVE GOT THE ANSWER!!!

Look what i foung on the wiki.

"Mr. House was born and lived before the Great War. Before the Great War commenced, he was somewhat of an expert in the field of cryogenic science and robotics. He supposedly froze himself and waited in stasis for a long amount of time (which is the reason he's over 200 years old) until he was woken up and emerged into a city that was falling apart. He is an elusive man, and also plays a big part in why New Vegas was not directly hit by the nuclear devastation. "

We already know all of this, however, we all question the legitamacy of this, as so far, we have only seen communication with Mr. House via a large console. So there is alot of speculation that he is either sealed in a germ free room, or he is a computer of some sort.

I personally think Mr House sounds like a huge jerk and I wont be doing anything to help him and his selfish agenda. Damn shame he is voice acted by Rene, as I do like him :)

It says that Mr. House is an elusive man, which may lead him to be a bit like the Wizard of Oz figure, as he may use his computer to interact with people but remain out of sight. A bit like Mass effect 2's Elusive Man, you never come face to face with him but see a holgram.

My conclusion - Mr. House is indeed a man (or ghoul) who was cryogenically frozen but uses his computer as his way of communication, after all the Wasteland is a dangerous place.

Maybe he's so old and everyone hates him that he has to hide behind a computer in some kind of safe-room. And if he's been frozen for 200 years + the fact New Vegas wasn't hit by bombs, I extremely doubt he's any type of ghoul.

Maybe the videos were taken before House trusted the player, so he still hides behind the console until he knows he may(not) kill him or something lol.

One things for sure, he doesn't look like his portrait or the images on the vidscreens.

Took to the liberty to get photos and compare the 2. The first looks like a pre-war type poster of him before everything died. The second one is the picture of him during your time in NV (obviously in the Stratosphere here)

He looks like some sort of murderous freak on the monitor.

I could care aless if the guys a robo or not

what i wanna know is if he's such a powerful figure in fallout: new vegas

then why the heck is new vegas(his city) controlled by NCR and his police force thats ran by robots.

If all house has is some protectrons for protections then he better get ready to die or.. be disconnected.

House had this system of vidscreens (can't be everywhere at once) to project himself to the outside world. As he got older, he programmed the computer to engage automatically as he was too frail to run the place. He died, and the computer didn't realise, so it just kept being "Mr House". I bet you get to his room and he's just a pile of bones in a bed, like Norman Bates mother.

I sincerely hope he is a real person, and just uses the computer as a form of communication. If the devs REALLY wanted to put a twist in about him, they could perhaps give the player a few chances to ask him to come out and speak to him "face to face" and have Mr. House tell him that he isn't in a position to make demands. Maybe even have the player flat out ask if he's just some computer AI, and then have Mr. House answer with something like "now that isn't very important," or just have him flat out say that he is a computer. Later on, for the twist, have it be revealed that he is actually a real live person. I'd kind of enjoy that simply because it would be the exact opposite of what happened in Fallout 3.

He owns the city, he controls everything. He controls the robots. That's like asking why the leader of a country uses a police force. Plus, maybe the NCR don't have much to do with the city. Maybe they're just there.
