About processors for Crysis 2!!!!!

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 5:23 am

Well for crysis 2 would an i3 processor overclocked to 4.20 GHz be able to run the game on enthusiast settings? or do the extra cores of the i5 and i7 models really make all the difference? even though they have a lower clock speed?

srsly stop with that garbage threads!
It svcks to read that all over the forum.
If you want to know if it can run the game either download the beta or go to canyourunit.com or wait till you have the final product.

Yeah because all CPU's are exactly the same except for clock speed....

But for sake of info. No you wont.

Im actually yet to buy my PC which is why im asking about it because im a student and its a serious investment im making but one I want to make so it is actually quite important to me, no need to be an asshole about it.

And its also because I havent got a straight answer yet.

if you overclocked your processor then you aren't a "noob" in computers, so by logic, you should know that your processor easily beats the official processor requirements posted by crytek/ea

So what would you take an educated guess at? I take it you would have to go the full monty and go for the quad core i7

To be honest, I think the answer is yes for Crysis 2, but no for Crysis 1 and Warhead. BUT that processor already has both feet in the grave, therefore it's not a good investment.

I mean it dude, get the i5 2500k. That will last a very long time AND it will have a high resale value when the next processor comes.

Why would you say no for Warhead and Crysis 1 but yes for Crysis 2? surely crysis 2 will be more demanding than either that or warhead.

And ive read up on reviews of the system build I was looking at with this processor and people have said it runs warhead on enthusiast settings! but I could understand it is slightly outdated.

Its been mentioned by a Crytek employee (perhaps distinctly Crytek) that the engine has been sufficiently optimised, tweaked etc so its more capable of running on machines of lower spec than Crysis could (based on low config settings), with much less performance impact. Seen to be believed, but I don't think they would make it up. Hope for the best :)

Vanilla Crysis and Crysis Warhead are more demanding than Crysis 2. Crysis 2 is being made for consoles. The graphics WILL be dumbed down. AND EVEN IF THEY AREN'T. The maps in Crysis 2 will have less to render (this is why they moved it from the jungle to the city).

The i3 was out dated when it came out. The i3 is for your grandma's computer. I'm not even kidding. Link me to those reviews you're talking about.

AGAIN, THE GRAPHICS ARE DUMBED DOWN, AND THE MAPS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO HAVE LESS CRAP TO RENDER. I'LL BET YOU THAT MOST OF THE "OPTIMIZATION" OF THE CRYENGINE3 IS BECAUSE OF THIS.

i hope that it doesn't use a lot of cpu, that way most of the people won't get their gpu bottleneck (like mine xD)

all demanding games take qaud cores
even though crysis2 is very optimized its still gona run better on a dual core then a qaud just like every game that supports a qaud
be safe and get a i5 over i3

To the OP, that system is very expensive for what it is. The other day scan had an offer of an i5 2500K system for that price. Build your own system (it's worth it in a number of ways) and get an i5-2500K and knock it up to 5GHz :D

Processor performance is not entirely dependant on clock speed. Architecture and other features such as cache make a large difference. An i5 will be faster than an i3, and the new sandy bridge i5's just stomp all over everything at the moment.

Games don't need much CPU power now. You don't need to overclock.
It's all in the GPU ;)
