About spawning dragons - question.

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:33 pm

Hi.
How many dragons can be spawned at the same time? Is it always one until you kill it? Or can there be another one when you travel to another location with a dragon spawn point (if there is something like that)?

My problem is that since 1.2 patch (1.3 didnt fix the problem) the dragon that spawned wont land and I cant harm it/make it land. I was running after him the whole central map, we was circling above me for HOURS doing all the sky gliding tricks... and still wouldnt attack me (am I that fearsome?).
Am I stuck with this particular dragon untill I kill it? I would like to know that.
Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem, you can get plenty more dragon fights, go adventure around. Dragons are unscripted and are random encounters, in other words they free-roam like you do. That particular dragon is trying to be different, let it have it's moment till the fix it back to a normal dragon. Dragons have feelings too.

At Shearpoint I had two attack me at once on my first day with the game. After 1.02, dragons have become rather rare unfortunately and don't release their souls most of the time. Out of 6 dragons encountered in my past week of playing, only 2 were randomly encountered and only one (the second randomly encountered one, which was a Frost Dragon) released its soul to me. Idk why dragons protecting word walls don't release their souls once again.

I like it when you get a dragon that just flies around shrieking and then flies off again - makes a nice change and looks sweet!

I've seen distant dragons even before the patch. Generally they're flying around a specific area that you can see, but which you are not in. Try going towards them or climbing the mountain they're flying around. Otherwise they'll move on and so will you.

Every now & then I see two flying around near each other but I have not been successful in keeping agro. This is just my experience & everyone's playthroughs have different results. Normally when I see 2 dragons nearby, I dragonrend one of them but they frequently both seem to bug out & fly off at some point.

Finally, while I was in conversation with an NPC outside Windhelm (I think), I could here everyone around me going nuts so I knew a dragon had spawned at my location. I started to fight it only to find there were two of them. It turned out to be an elder dragon & a blood dragon. Luckily, my guy is leveled enough to take them pretty quick. I hate to lose NPC's to dragon attacks. I don't like to lose out on quests opportunities.

I was kinda mad. Lately, I have started to slow down on fast traveling to adventure/explore. It sorta blows to venture halfway across Skyrim on foot & then have to fast travel all the way back to my starting house to store the bones...which I refuse to sell or leave behind. I currently have about 60 some odd bones & about 30 or so scales. I don't really need them since I have ditched the dragonscale armor & went back to leather but it just sorta feels "wasteful" to let the bones/scales go. I am to the point that I try to avoid dragon fights because I feel compelled not to leave the bones behind.

I have heard of three dragons spawning but have never seen it myself.

I don't think every dragon sighting results in an attack. I don't think the game was made that way. About 10 to 20% of the ones I see do not attack me, but just fly around, then fly off. Probably just to remind us that there are dragons still around. The way they appear and fly around leads me to believe that they are not supposed to attack. Reason, is they never attack anything else on the ground. Any dragon that would attack me, would also attack anything else on the ground.

Kind of like my character really. I run by a Fort and the denizens all start to react to me but I just keep going. Does that mean I am glitched since I am not attacking everything I see? :D

Now, when I see the dragons, I just keep going where I am headed, or away from town just in case, and if the dragon does not come down to play, I ignore it. The next one will want to try and dull my sword.

The most dragons I've had actively fighting at once was three. A Blood Dragon, an Elder Dragon, and Ohdaviing.
