About to start Fallout (1)

Post » Thu Jul 22, 2010 12:26 am

Im really looking forward to this as I love RPGs. I only started on FO3, but wanted to see what everyone who said they liked the earlier games alot more were on about. Character creation in terms of stats and abilities seems abit more complex. I also think I remember hearing that stats like luck play more of a role in this game.

Any general hints for just starting out? :)

Thanks!

You couls start out by getting the game, reading the manual and trying to solve things yourself before rushing to Wiki or these forums :D

SPECIAL play a MUCH larger role. For example; if you have low intelligence you can bearly speak normally...

Manuals are usually stored in the CD or in the installed game's folder. Check them out.

This. I believe you can open them up on an Abdobe Reader thing. That or just go to a wiki.

Yep, at least my FO1 install has a manual in it.

It's from long ago, when games weren't made to appeal to largest possible market, so expect a challenge and use of brains.

If you enjoy FO3, don't try FO1 or 2. I did and was massively disappointed. Then again, that's just me.

If you can level, get new skills and abilities, then I love it, regardless of graphics or gameplay mechanics. But there is surely and addictive agent in FO3 that I am sure will hook me into 1.

I can't see how you could be disappointed unless you just can't get around the old graphics and interface. IT's better than FO3 in all other departments.

Tag small guns. Don't read spoilers. Feel free to restart if your character svcks at the start. The rest should fall into place.

Dont cheat by looking in the wikis for the location of the
Spoiler
water chip
and other stuff or you're first re-run will seem like you've played it before.
And believe me the first time you play the game, The feel.

Save often and save saves. :)

Also... Fallout has no auto-save, so if you don't save, there is only the option to restart with a new character.
